Joss Whedon, director of Avengers Assemble and Avengers: Age of Ultron, has deleted his Twitter account.
"Thank you to all the people who've been so kind and funny and inspiring up in here," the 50-year-old wrote before going offline.
The director had faced criticism over how Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow character was represented in his latest film, which some accused of being sexist.
Before directing the two Avengers films, Whedon was best known for writing and directing the Buffy: The Vampire Slayer TV series.

Many people now get they news following celebrity twitter accounts and those that follow Joss Whedon will wonder where has he gone.
