Subject: The war on terror (2001-2014) is (sort of) over!

While we're still at war in NW Pakistan and will have troops in Afghanistan for a while longer, the combat mission is formally over.

Do you think it would be accurate to say the "post-9/11" era is over since ISIS and a more bellicose Russia have overshadowed Al-Qaeda and nobody really worries about another 9/11 anymore?

I'd say we've moved on so it's somewhat distant now but we're post 9/11 in the way the Cold War was post WW2. We're affected, and the changes remain, but we're beginning to see it as a thing of the past.
I say this as both a New Yorker and a kid growing up post 9/11. When the war ends, it's the end of that chapter, but 9/11 will not be forgotten.

Now it's North Korea that's gotten more in focus. The war on terror era is winding down, but not done yet.
