Subject: Bad music: The government is trying to dumb us down

I think the world government is trying to dumb us down, or keep us dumb down.

Music is one way of doing it. Make 'simple' music popular and keep the masses docile and passive.

And that's my theory.

Well, if I may put the tinfoil hat on...I don't think it's the music. I think it's the news. Look at all the celebrity gossip that's become more and more of a big deal. Little things, not OMG! things. Look at the stories they report on night time news. People become famous for just anything, if only for a day. Everything that goes viral, gets re-tweeted, and Instagram'd is all stuff that distracts everyone from becoming informed. Who wants to become informed while they're mindlessly entertained they're certainly not thinking about anything more important.

I believe politically biased cable news networks are dividing and destroying this country. The fact that people get their news from sites that will only report what fits their worldview makes people less informed.

Personally, I think both authors were right. The scary part is it doesn't require a conspiracy at all. It just requires politicians who only care about staying in power, and infotainment channels who only care about their ratings.

And, as for Huxley, people have always been obsessed with small things.

And Orwellian oppression is what we see in places like North Korea, but if you interview people there, they're aware they're being oppressed; they're not brainwashed as Kim Jong Un would like you to believe.

I remember a time in the 80's where they signed you with a record deal and you did it for the love of making songs.
