New York City Police Department says one person has died after an explosion in an East Harlem apartment building that then collapsed. Fifteen others being treated for minor injuries after the incident, which sent smoke billowing from the scene. Residents heard a blast in the five-storey building at 116th Street and Park Avenue before it caved in.

Two women have died after a gas leak sparked an explosion which levelled two buildings in East Harlem, New York City, authorities say.

I have read a couple of stories but haven't seen the answer...were they residential buildings?

In the seventies this used to happen every day in Harlem.
