Subject: For those that hate commuting
Written By: Mushroom on 04/26/13 at 7:54 pm
One thing I have to admit, I always hated to commute.
Now my drives to and from work have run from 1 to 100 miles each way. And this time I live about 60 miles from work. But I only drive about 10 miles each way, and take mass transit the rest of the way.

And I have to admit, I absolutely love it.

I commuted 30 miles each way the first 6 years of my career.
For the past 28 years it has been no more than 3 miles. I love it. 8)
When I drive to work in the morning I can coast half the way downhill, engaging the "Georgia Overdrive" of my manual tranny. ;D

that's great, at least you don't have to spend any carfare.

I hate when you're on the bus and it's so crowded that it makes it hard to move to the front of the bus.

Well, for me this time has been about 2 weeks.
For the first 3 days, I took BART, what a pain in the arse. Trains jam packed, often late, and expensive (you pay per mile).
Finally I tried a different method, and have used that ever since. Now I take the ferry to work. I drive 15 miles to Vallejo, then take a boat ride the rest of the way.

This is the route it takes going to and from work.

One of the only good things about working in Baghdad by the Bay.
And literally this runs right around the corner from where I work.

But I only work a few blocks from the Ferry BUilding, so I just walk there.

Do they come with less smelly bums?

In Boston we say fewer smelly bums, just ask the smelly bums, and they will say fewer!

Sorry, I guess it was a bit to subtle (or obscure). That was actually a song reference.

I kind of like when a bus is halfway empty, that way there is no overcrowding to deal with.
