@ 0.54 seconds =0!!!!! EPIC AS {edited by a moderator because I showed my ignorance by trying to cuss around the word filter and the forum rules} Normally I wouldn't watch this crap but since every ranger is coming back (tommy?) I think ill have to take a lil look at this when it premiers on Nick. I think alot of late 80s babies are going to be tuning in. sheesh is cray!

Power rangers was huge from 1993-1996 you would have to be born in the late 80s to be old enough 2 watch it. Its demo was 5-9 year olds.

Yeah, that would be me. I didn't watch it religiously or anything but I used to watch it sometimes with my older brother (born 1987)
But this whole thread is spinning it like a kid born December 31, 1989 was all about Power Rangers growing up and a kid born a day later on January 1, 1990 doesn't even know what it is.

My younger brother was born in 1991 and he loved MMPR almost as much as I did.
Almost as much, but not quite. I think I might just have been the biggest Power Ranger fan on the planet. I was 6 when "Day of the Dumpster" hit the airwaves (prime age to veg out watching gigantic robots fighting equally gigantic monsters), and I didn't just love MMPR, I was obsessed with it. I used to watch it not once, but twice a day (back when Fox had kids programming both in the afternoons and in the mornings). I had every toy, every video game, saw the movie 20 times, etcetera, etcetera.
Hard to believe it's almost been 20 years. That actually makes me legitimately feel old. ;D

MMPR was the best! It came at the right time when dinosaurs were very popular in 1993 with the release of Jurassic Park. I remember watching episodes of them everyday! I have the official box sets and they bring so many great memories! Y'all should watch Super Sentai! Super Sentai is where Power Rangers get its footage from.

Yeah exactly. For the record, I'm a '91er and I definitely without a doubt remember Power Rangers. I can't believe that franchise is celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year! :o My brother (who was obsessed) and I had this on VHS way back then:

No that would be Teletubbies. Power Rangers was for an older audience.
You think that Power Rangers would want its main target audience to be a bunch that had yet to even reach the first grade?
I think the true demographic was probably, 80-83/5 born, with younger age brackets possibly enjoying/watching it as well.
I'd say the youngest would have been about 4, so born in '89 for 1993 or '92 for 1996. Well, for the original Power Rangers anyway.

No, he's right, and I know because I experienced it first hand. I went through elementary school almost entirely with kids born in 1986, 1987 and 1988, and there was not a single boy in my class that wasn't totally obsessed with this show. The Power Rangers fad spanned roughly from 1994 through 1997, and the target audience for the show was boys between the ages of about 6 and 12. People born in 1980 or 1981 would have been in high school by then. I could certainly be wrong (I obviously didn't hang out around them at the time), but I just can't see a 15-year-old sitting down to watch Power Rangers every afternoon after school.
As far as Teletubbies goes, my little brother was already too old for that show by the time it first aired, and he was born in 1991.

There's no way someone born in 1990 or 1991 would like the Teletubbies. That began in 1997 and was for preschoolers. Even a 6 or 7 year old is too old for that sh*t. ;D
I'd actually say Teletubbies is almost a Generation Z thing.

Yeah Power Rangers was for kids aged 3-9 IMO so anyone born between 1984/85 and 1994/95 could have enjoyed it in its original run. Someone born before 1984/85 would have lost interest fairly soon and easily been too old for it by the time the first movie was released in 1995.
As for Teletubbies, no way would a 1992 born person have been into that. Barney was our toddler aged obsession.

Yeah, I suppose '80 is pushing it. But the entire thing is confusing, I think the birth dates of the viewers changed as it continued to air, but I guess you are right that someone/viewers who would watch more of it during its entire run would be the better target group.
6-12 does seem right. So, someone who was at the most 12 in '97, hence born in '85?
But then again, the birth dates would vary during its run, as older viewers outgrew it, and younger viewers started to watch it.

I agree with this, except I think it would appeal to people older than 9 as well, and '95 seems a bit young to have appreciated it in the 90s

Yeah, I would say that the mid 80's is about the oldest age that could have gotten into it. You have to remember that, because of the overall set up and tone of the show, Power Rangers had much less "adult appeal" when compared to some other 90's kid shows. Starting about the time you got into junior high school, admitting to liking MMPR back then would have been grounds for you to get mercilessly picked on. MMPR's biggest fanbase was the elementary school crowd, which is probably why my age group has so much nostalgia for it.
The caveat here is that we're obviously talking about the show during it's original "fad period" of 1994 through 1997. Since Power Rangers is still currently on TV, it's youngest fans as of today could have been born all the way up to like 2008.

I remember when Blue's Clues premiered, it was right when I was starting kindergarten. I remembering feeling like I had "just missed the boat" in terms of being the right age to watch the show, but that doesn't mean I didn't watch from time to time it anyway ;D I watched Nick Jr. semi-often when waiting for Nickelodeon to come on.
I would definitely say I was in the "Barney generation". I watched that a lot when I was around 4 years old. Although I was surprised to learn Barney was still producing new episodes as late as 2009. So even someone born in like 2005/2006 could have watched Barney.

Me too, I found Nick Jr. boring compared to regular Nick but sometimes I'd watch it merely out of boredom. Of course, late at night I'd also watch infomercials after Nick at Nite went off the air. ::) Haha.
Barney is multi-generational, yes. I believe it started being aired in 1992 didn't it? So it could span anywhere from 1988 to 2006 as far as people who were into it! :o But I'd say its main fans were born in the earlier part of that range, like Sesame Street and Power Rangers, even though it lasted into the '00s it wasn't nearly as popular as it was pre-2000.

You could push that back to 1987 and possibly a bit before. The PBS show didn't start until 1992, but the inspiration for it was a series of VHS video's that came out in the late 80's and early 90's titled Barney and the Backyard Gang. I believe the first came out around the time I was born.
It's worth noting that the Barney "fad" didn't really take off until after the '92 PBS show though, so the number of fans around my age is probably significantly less. I watched the show as a toddler between like 1989 and 1991ish, and am probably about the youngest age that could have gotten into it pre-fad.

The only reason I was even aware of and watched some of Blue Clues at the time was because of my younger sibling who was obsessed with that show so I was frequently forced to watch what he watched. I would also say I was part of the "Barney generation" when I was really young. My family had a ton of Barney videos around the house because my sibling was also obsessed with the show. Now that I think about it, I was the type of kid back then who really want to grow up so I didn't generally found pre-school oriented/educational shows geared towards my age group interesting. I did love watching shows like Sesame Street, Elmo's World, The Puzzle Place, The Magic School Bus, Mister Rodger's Neighborhood, Lamb Chop's Play-Along, to name a few.

Blue's Clues I would consider a Y/Z cusp thing. Probably its fans would range from born as early as 1992 to as late as 2008 but mostly in the 1994-2002 birth year range. It lasted a long time in fact Blue's Clues will be 20 years old as well in a few years (2016).

Yeah, I was in 4th grade when Blue's Clues debuted and I used to catch it on Nick Jr. from time to time during the summer months, or when I was out of school. It wasn't really my cup of tea. My younger brother was in kindergarten when it started and he never really got into it either. It think the way the show is set up just doesn't have much appeal to anybody above preschool age (as opposed to other Nick Jr. shows like Rupert and Little Bear which I actually didn't have a problem with watching as I got older).

Ahh yes, Little Bear! That was one of my favs! I remember Rupert too, but I must have been relatively young when they stopped showing it because I only remember one episode. I think the peak of my Nick Jr. watching included the shows Gullah Gullah Island, Allegra's Window, and The Busy World of Richard Scary. Another one I have vague memories of is David the Gnome.

I think the only Nick Jr. show I can remember seeing from time to time besides Blue Clues was Gullah Gullah Island. I was definitely more of a PBS kid and also occasionally watched shows on Playhouse Disney (again, thanks to my younger siblings) like Out of the Box, Bear in the Big Blue House, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Madeline and PB & J Otter, to name a few.

Even Blue's Clues, I'd probably say their oldest fans were born in late 1991, since it started in Fall 1996. I'd say if you were older than kindergarten you probably were too old for it.
Yeah I remember watching Blues Clues when it was first on air in 1996-97 during preschool, but by then time I started kindergarten in 1997 I had graduated onto stuff like Hey Arnold.

I also remember kids used to hardcore make fun of Barney when I was in elementary school. It was like a backlash against "baby stuff" or something :D
We still do.

That actually makes me legitimately feel old. ;D
anybody check out the show yet? lol
