Subject: Instagram is the NEW facebook for tweens and teens

I was visiting my family a few weeks ago and saw my 11 year old niece asking if I had an instagram account. This of course gotten me to think: Is Instagram the NEW way that generation y-z are communicating?
And here is my question:
Is Facebook becoming out-dated as an internet resource website?
Is Instagram The New twitter for tweens and teens?
Do you know of a sibling that uses instagram?
When I was 11, the most technological thing someone would use would be: GAME BOY COLOR

I use Instagram but it's just for taking and sharing photos. There's not much you can do to interact with others other than "like" or comment on their photos. It poses no threat no Facebook.

I think FB will be the dominant social media for at least 10 more years.

I never heard of instagram, but I heard of twitter though.

Probably, but things evolve so fast anymore that you just never know.
Three years ago people thought the same thing about MySpace, and who uses that anymore? ???

I think Facebook is different because it's much more global and not as limited to teenagers as MySpace was. Yahoo has lasted almost 20 years.

I also don't think it's mostly 11 year olds who use it anyway. I would guess its mainly high school and college kids, but I've seen several people in their late 20s and 30s using it as well.
