Does "Friends" seem more 90's or 00's to you? Literally it's right in the middle as it went from 1994-2004, but would you consider it more a 90's or 00's show?

Undoubtedly 90s. But, it's still very beloved even today. I never got the hype much myself. Perhaps you had to be a certain age in 1994 for it to really seem special, because in many ways it was original and ahead of its time.

90's. The fashions people remember from it most are nineties, (the tartan turtlenecks, the Rachel cut) and its largely a representation of Clinton-era upwardly mobile urban slacker culture.  Also, its not "right in the middle," 1004-2004 6 years were in the 90's and 4 were in the noughties, and with a show popular enough to go on ten years, people are going to remember the "early days" best.

Actually, 2000-2004 is five years, not just four. Just to let you know in case you didn't make a typing mistake, the year 2000 existed...SURPRISE! I still would consider it nineties though, especially since the Joey spin-off ran from about 2004 - 2007.

But that is one thing people on inthe00s.com seem to ignore, is that once upon a time, there was a year 2000. If you can't accept that fact, it is wrong for you to assume self-credibility.

I see Friends as having more of the 1990's vibe to it, because it was part of the Must See TV lineup along with Seinfeld, which was certainly a 90's phenomenon.  8)

Definitely '90s.  For a current example, take "The Office."  Definitely a '00s show despite running until 2013.

Now that I think back to how cool it was to have "Rachael's hair" in the 90's, I see how it's more of a 90's show than an 00's one. But it was still big in the 2000's though, especially around the finale. I would put this in the 90's forum but i don't know how to move it.  :-\\

Just to let you know television shows at counted by seasons not years the episodes aired

So the eps that aired in 2000 are divided between 1999 season and the 00 season

Using TV seasons math 6 of the 10 seasons aired in the 90s the final four seasons aired in the 00s

03-04

There was no 04 season therefore you cannot count 04

I would say it's defiantly a 90's thing! Man I'm missing those days now. I guess I'll be singing that Friends Intro while rocking back and forth in a corner when the economy collapses and people are rioting in the streets to secede from The United States. Picture that! ::)

It all depends on when any of the episodes were originally broadcast. Episode number 1 would be as of 1994 and episode 236 would be 2004, any other episode set between.

To me it is more 90s. Because the first episode was aired in 1994.

Friends definitely feels more like a 90s show than 2000s. Even "The Rachel" haircut was from the 90s.

Oh easy answer to that  I put it there so there would be no bias. It was the only logical spot otherwise there would be bias in choosing either 90s or 00s and I wanted it to be an unbiased discussion.

90s. To me, Seinfeld started it, but Friends was the nail in the coffin for 80s TV holdovers. TV would forever be different.

I was hoping for Seinfeld to last another 2 more years cause in one episode Newman and Kramer was going to celebrate 2000 in 1998 as part of a New Year's Eve celebration.

That’s funny because it ran for about 10 years like Friends did and the cast was mainly people who were teens in the 90s while on friends it was people who were mostly teens in the 80s

2010s equivalent is probably “Insecure” on HBO maybe but I could be wrong
