I'm watching VH1's "Top 100 Women in Rock" show and they rated Fiona Apple #55 whilst Gloria Estefan languishes at #56.
Despite the fact that I think Estefan should rank higher than #56... how on earth could Fiona Apple, who has maybe 1 or 2 hits at best, rank higher than Gloria? ???
They got this one wrong.

People vote - both "regular" people, and those in the music industry.
I think that Gloria should be higher ranked than she is, but it shouldn't take away from Fiona Apple's talent. She was quite innovative at the time, and had some amazing songs that didn't make the top 40.

Fantasia has a reality show on VH1 of course they are going to rank their own talent higher
what weight do those rankings have anyway? None...it's just a list.... people are going to be on the list. It was probably made in the order they remembered the names.

When VH1 compile lists, they don't even give correct facts of separate facts ...
They did a One Hit Wonder show and mentioned Bette Davis Eyes because it was the only US #1 hit for Kim Carnes. Using that same logic, would also make Aerosmith one hit wonders with Don't Wanna Miss A Thing

I only know Ms Apple for one thing...one of her album titles was longer than the album itself!

Gloria had more hits, this it true but...... Fiona is Original... I am biased though, I ADORE HER!
