Subject: The worst music video of 2011
Written By: whistledog on 01/03/12 at 7:07 pm
Without a doubt, the answer to this question is 'Big Bad Wolf' by the American/Canadian duo Duck Sauce. I love the song, it is fantastic, and even the single cover made it more excellent, but when I saw the video, I felt very scared and disturbed. The American half of Duck Sauce is Armand Van Helden, whom you might recognize as a well known name in the world of dance music
I apologize if this music video creeps anyone out. It seems like alot of known people in the music biz gave Duck Sauce praise for taking a risk. The single peaked at #79 in the UK chart, and (has so far) failed to chart in North America, so that risk may have hurt

The part at the end with the big chick was amusing, but the toilet scene was a bit much lol

Yeah, the first time I saw it, I was like :o
Worst video.....Lady Gaga's "Marry the Night". It's like an overwrought film school project. Did not enjoy it at all. And this is coming from someone who will watch "Bad Romance" on repeat.

Ditto. Then I started wondering just how far they were going to take the joke. Then they started playing ping-pong, and I started laughing so hard my posterior detached. (No, wait, that was some other 2011 act...)

I thought the track was a bit weaker than the comparatively infectious Barbra Streisand, but that's more my bias speaking - the whole minimalistic/deep house thing never did much for me, and the first time I heard Big Bad Wolf, I kept wondering when I was going to hear more of Rasputin than the sample used for the drum beat. But it stands on its own as a solid tribute to whatever we called that sub-subgenre of house back in the day. (Minimalist tracks aren't supposed to have an answer for "where are they going with this?")
It's like an overwrought film school project.
Speaking of overwrought film school projects, no "worst of 2011" list could be complete without:

If people didn't know in advance how bad it was going to be, would it have ever gone viral? It's right there in the uncanny valley between "too amateurish to be good" and "too professional to be a joke".

George Michael "True Faith"
What is bad about that video?
George recorded that song for Charity. It reached #27 in the UK and raised alot of money for the needy
