Somebody sent me an image of this new computer called Amiga X1000:

The more I read on Wikipedia about this PC, the less I understand. Is this suppposed to be Apple's new offering or something? Who's behind that?
Is it some sort of viral marketing or what? :)

It's real, but it's a hobbyist machine. It's got absolutely nothing to do with Apple; the custom motherboard was designed by a very talented enthusiast community. Hyperion Entertainment's blog is still active, and development of the hardware at A-EON continues.
If you're an Amiga fan, bookmark those two sites, wait a few more months, maybe another year or so.
And don't expect it to be cheap; because it's a hobbyist project produced by the community for the community, production volumes are going to be low. I'd be suprised if it costs less than $2000 when it gets into the end user's hands.
But for a true Amiga fan (I'm not one, although as a vintage computer enthusiast, I certainly applaud the effort), it'll be worth every penny.
