Subject: Disney/Pixar to re-release 4 more movies to theaters in 3D
Written By: Mat1991 on 10/06/11 at 12:18 am
Due to the enormous success of The Lion King in 3D, Disney and Pixar will be re-releasing four other movies to theaters in 3D over the next two years. In 2012, Beauty and the Beast and Finding Nemo will be re-released; and in 2013, Monsters, Inc. and The Little Mermaid will be re-released.

I'm actually excited for this. I haven't seen The Little Mermaid in theaters since its 1997 re-release, and I've never seen any of the others in theaters (and I've never seen Monsters, Inc. or the entirety of Finding Nemo, period). I'll be sure to attend these showings.

I did not see those films when originally released or since, I think that I can miss out on seeing them in 3D.

Re-releasing movies has proven to be quite profitable for Disney, and since they've finally ended their direct-to-video sequels (at least I think they did), they need the extra revenue somehow, and what better way than to re-release some of their older classics in 3D?

I'd like to see the old Johnny Wadd series re-released in 3D.

Every movie is being released in 3D these days. It must be pretty popular with the crowds, because otherwise it would have gone out of favor by now. It's a gimmick to garner more revenue.
Personally, I never saw its appeal, either (even though I haven't seen a movie in 3D yet). I went to see the re-release of The Lion King about a week ago, and I saw it in regular 2D.

My eyes were very aching after I saw Toy Story 3 in 3D.

But I thought 3D was something from the late 70's early 80's? ???

Every 20 years or so, 3-D makes a comeback.
I remember Jaws 3-D, especially Bess Armstrong in those tight wet suits. :-*

The first big 3D movie was House Of Wax in the mid 50's, it starred Vincent Price.

Toy Story 3 on Blu Ray is pretty good. I've not seen it in 3D, not sure I'm too fussed to be honest.
I have seen Avatar and the previous episode of Saw on 3D. I wasn't impressed as the glasses make everything look darker.

Lol. That's true. Less 3D, more 1960s musician impressions...

Actually, the first big 3D movie was "Bwana Devil" with Robert Stack and Barbara Britton, which was released in 1952 or just an year before "House of Was" was released in 1953. "Bwana Devil" was also the first American 3D movie shot in color. It also had the distinction of having one of the last film appearances of Nigel Bruce, who is probably best known for playing Dr. Watson opposite Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes.
Though, I do think, having seen both films, "House of Wax, is the better of the two films.
