Subject: Russell Brand refused entry to Canada

Comedian Russell Brand has been forced to postpone a show in Canada after customs officials refused him entry to the country.
The star had been expected to perform in front of 5,000 people at the Casino Rama in Ontario.
Brand confirmed the news on his website, apologising to fans.
In May Brand was deported from Japan. At the time his wife Katy Perry tweeted: "It was for priors from over 10 years ago."
Casino Rama said the show had been "postponed due to a travel issue being experienced by the artist".
In a message posted on his website, Brand said: "Tonight's Casino Rama show postponed. I'm sorry. I can't enter Canada. We must abolish the borders between our nations AND our minds."
The venue said tickets would be honoured for a rescheduled show date, but refunds were also available.
Brand had kept fans up-to-date with the situation at the airport via Twitter.
Hours before the gig announcement, he posted: "HELP! I'm gonna be late for Casino Rama show unless someone can force Canadian customs officials to let us land in Orillia."
Two hours later he wrote: "Let me in! I must perform at Casino Rama, Orillia tonight at 9 for 5000 Canadians!"
In 2008 Brand was also denied entry to the US. He had been due to appear as a guest on David Letterman's talk show.

I read this in Canadian news:
Casino Rama issued a news release Saturday stating that the show was officially postponed due to a "travel issue." Jenna Hunter, spokeswoman for Casino Rama, said she didn't know why Brand was "spinning" the issue as a problem at the border.
“They had technical issues with their plane in California and he wasn’t able to get another plane and get here in time," she said in an interview.
"I think what he’s saying is there is no international airport up here...and therefore you can’t clear customs in Orillia.”
”I think he’s trying to be witty about the whole thing, but it really was just a plane issue, it wasn’t a customs issue at all."
I've been to Casino Rama in Orillia, ages ago, it's a tiny little town, maybe 1 hour north of Toronto.

If it wasn't for the fact that Brand was born here in the UK, we would refuse him entry here too, lol.
