I'm with Howard...but I must qualify.  I had a giant poster of Sinead O'Connor in my bedroom in 1988.  Her album "The Lion & The Cobra" came out in 1987 with the press releases of her Dickensian upbringing as a poor street urchin in Dublin who'd spent time in reform school.  I loved "The Lion & The Cobra" and her hardscrabble back story, and I though a shaven head on the right woman was a major turn-on!  I was infatuated.

I loved Sinead O'Connor but my infatuation screeched to a stop when she bought "Nothing Compares 2U" from Prince.  That meant she f**ked Prince, or was going to have to.  Then "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" came out in 1990 and Sinead ratcheted up her politics from Borstal Girl to spoiled politically correct Mount Holyoke Sophomore from Darien.  She was going around with Mickey Roarke painted on her leather jacket and declaring she preferred men of color, over 30, with facial hair, and furthermore, if hip-hop kids beat up white kids,the white kids deserve it because their ancestors were the oppressors.  O'Connor scolded MTV for corrupting kids' minds, then she went on MTV with Karen Finley, the chocolate-syrup-and-canned-yams up the "wrong alley, baby."  Yes, a big part of Finley's act was inserting canned yams into her rectum.  Okay.  Sinead's off the deep end, and her records are weak now.  Oh well, she's just a kid, maybe she'll figure things out.   Then I turn around and she's butchering some Bob Marley song on SNL and shredding a photo of Pope John Paul II saying good will triumph over evil.  The audience booed, and she ran off the stage.  I thought, "Well, the kid has some guts.  She's gonna ketch hell for that."  Joe Pesce found the shreded papal photo and taped it back together for his SNL guest spot.  "I thought that was wrong," he declared, "But what are you gonna do, she's just a kid right?  I tapped it back together!  Hooray!   I lost all respect for Sinead when she broke in to tears when crowds booed her.  It takes a pair of brass balls to take a controversial position at the start of a showbiz career.  She did not.  All Sinead had was brittle there there dear identity politics as practiced on college campuses.  It was all radical chic.  Black man good, white man bad; women good, men bad.  So I bitterly gave up on m objet de passion.

The last I checked, she had reaffirmed her ties with Catholic Church, and I thought this was a good thing; she was working as a catechist.  So my respect for Sinead came back, but my boyish infatuation was over and done years and years before.

Now this.  Well, this is just silly.  Anal sex for Sinead?  Maybe Karen Finley taught her that, I don't know man.  I just don't know.  I'll grow old and crazy and Sinead will grow old and crazy, and that will be that.  Maybe I'll see her when she's 75 and her grandchildren are saying the Rosary at the pool while Sinead's new Mandingo boyfriend catches some rays!
