I would just like to see more of Sweet Stuff and Masquerade. The one of Masquerade that exists doesn't have another pony obscuring her. I'd probably have to request it to someone who usually does G1 to G4 shifts, don't know where to start on that though.

Exactly. Mainly when anyone says "Get a life", it's by what the more popular crowd's definition is; and it's something I find to be massively overrated. It basically boils down to bending over backwards doing only what they think you should be doing, under the rules of what they think being an adult is, what being mature is, and what is considered the norm for your group. In other words taking the fun out of one's life.

I'd rather have fun playing Dragon Quest and Pokemon, watching My Little Pony, other cartoons and anime than being bored and watching things that don't interest me like reality TV and sports just to get popular approval.

I remember doing an order for a customer a while back, she asked if I still draw(she knew me in high school, but I didn't remember her). I said something along the lines "not in along time" to which she which replied "I guess we all have to grow up sometime". I gave her a funny look and said "It has nothing to do with that". Too bad I didn't remember C.S. Lewis' quote:

Exactly. Mainly when anyone says "Get a life", it's by what the more popular crowd's definition is; and it's something I find to be massively overrated. It basically boils down to bending over backwards doing only what they think you should be doing, under the rules of what they think being an adult is, what being mature is, and what is considered the norm for your group. In other words taking the fun out of one's life.

I'd rather have fun playing Dragon Quest and Pokemon, watching My Little Pony, other cartoons and anime than being bored and watching things that don't interest me like reality TV and sports just to get popular approval.

I remember doing an order for a customer a while back, she asked if I still draw(she knew me in high school, but I didn't remember her). I said something along the lines "not in along time" to which she which replied "I guess we all have to grow up sometime". I gave her a funny look and said "It has nothing to do with that". Too bad I didn't remember C.S. Lewis' quote:

I grew up during the 80s MLP generation(referred to as generation 1) as well. I did watch some of the TV series, the movie and a little of My Little Pony Tales.

The only ones I didn't see from the 80s were Rescue From Midnight Castle(which was done by the same studio of the D&D cartoon) and Escape From Katrina, which are the first two specials ever made of the series.

And it's all in preparation for making marmalade out of these weird apples called Zap Apples!

Which I think are made of whatever lightning that we saw being used in the Eragon movie that made that dragon grow!

I always knew that movie was a precursor to My Little Pony!

It made about as much sense for existing as G 3.5!

But I digress.

So it turns out that Granny Smith is teaching Apple Bloom how to make the marmalade!

And Apple Bloom is like:

But then Diamond Tiara and her dad come by, because it turns out that the dad is their biggest buyer of Zap Apple marmalade!

Ask Princess who?!  (Yes, for those of you wondering, the Pony meme has its own dedicated niche in Ask X Tumblr blogs.  As you might imagine, the results are often hilariously NFSW.)

But back to the Super Bowl, the chimicherrychangas were great.  And despite some ridiculously-preventable penalties, it was a great game.  (There's another topic for more-than-a-decade - back in the mid-80s-90s, the Superb Owl was pretty much over by halftime.  The past decade has brought back some real nail-biters; the game itself has been worth watching for more than just the commercials.)

But to give you an idea of how the whole process starts and evolves, have some cupcakes.  It starts with something cute and simple like a song from the TV show's soundtrack (no frosting), and then you go for the the Eurobeat Brony mix (with frosting), and you either toss on the lyrical sprinkles from FluttershyElsa, or you skip the lyrical sprinkles and just loading up on frosting, confetti, and edible 8-bit sugar toppers from the likes of Dexter C. And I promise you this is the only post I'll make this month that will both involve ponies and cupcakes and remain both safe for work and for your sanity.  For those who are wondering WTF that last sentence was about, don't worry, you'll find out later.  I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe; a phoenix on fire off the shoulder of Fluttershy; I've watched magickal lazors firin' in the dark near the Celestial Gate.  All those moments will be lost in time, like bits in the cloud.

You've probably heard about the Derpy controversy. Yeesh! (Although it's mostly just overblown, it's nowhere near what people have been freaking out about)


Quite.  For those wondering WTF this is all about - some people took the appearance of a cross-eyed, clumsy pony with a deep silly voice as a slight against people with intellectual disabilities.  It's the natural outcome when you have a rabid fanbase, and a sub-subdemographic of that fanbase who are (justifiably) hypersensitive to these sorts of issues (purple text on right-hand-side of huge infographic).

The character started early in the series as an anonymous randomly-generated background pony that got its eyes crossed as an animation error.  Fans noticed, gave her the nickname "Derpy" after her crosseyed appearance; yes, the word "derp" has connotations of stupidity, but the meme is as much about looking silly than it is about actual stupidity. 

In this case, people forgot that voice actors rarely, if ever, see the characters they're animating.  This is pretty much the only way to make animation work.  The voice actors are given the script and a storyboard, and only after the lines are recorded is it possible for the animators to synchronize the characters' lips to the recorded lines.

So when the voice actress was handed a script - not having any artwork of Derpy accompany it, and this being the first time in the series that the character was ever mentioned by name - she went with the notion that (the scene being a construction set) Derpy was male, and voiced her line in an uncharacteristically-deep voice.

And that's it.

I think it's fitting that a character born out of a minor animation glitch should cause such an out-of-proportion misunderstanding as a result of a second minor animation accident. 

And it's not only fitting, it's hilariously perfect, that the line in question - the first line this character has ever spoken - was "I just don't know what went wrong".

tl;dr?  A few fans misunderstood what happened, but my reaction was more along the lines of:
