Christchurch is a very pretty city. I went over there back in 2009 (only a 3 hr flight from Brisbane) and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were only in Christchurch for a couple of days ... but the older buildings were preserved well and, together with beautiful gardens, the city was gorgeous.
Watching our news, it appears those same older buildings have been badly damaged (possibly beyond repair).....and so many lost their lives as well. It's impossible to know how many it will be...
They are in my prayers...

How awful!
The pictures I've seen previously of the city were beautiful. I fell in love with the city when watching the movie "The Frighteners" where it was filmed. I'd always hoped to get over there someday.
My thoughts are with everyone effected by this disaster. I hope that our members (ooze-family) that are there have a chance to check in with us at some future point.

Earthquakes turn heaven into hell as fast as a flash. Where it lighted life and laughter, then and there it darkens death and disaster-
I feel sorry for so much grief in Christchurch :\'(
