Subject: New Hits for 2011
Written By: whistledog on 01/29/11 at 10:41 am
Some of these not really new, but they are rising at their peak, which does qualify them for 2011 hits ...
Martin Solveig featuring Dragonette - Hello
Already a 2010 hit in several parts of Europe, it has now risen to #23 in Canada and #16 in the UK for 2011. Had it not been for Dragonette, I don't think it would have become the hit that it has in Canada
The video features fellow French DJs Bob Sinclair and DJ Gregory and cameos from Tennis superstars Gael Monfils and Novak Djokovic

Taio Cruz featuring Travie McCoy - Higher
This has risen to #28 in the States. The International version features Kylie Minogue instead

Bruno Mars - Grenade
"Hold It Against Me" by Britney is really awful, the only good part is the slow singing part 00:35-01:03. There she sounds like the old Britney from 1999. I miss this cute little country girl that she was...
And the hard rock anthem "What the Hell" by Avril Lavigne is really good. My new favorite hit song so far...

Well the song did go #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Doesn't "Hold It Against Me" follow the same electro-pop formula as "Womanizer"and "3" though? "Circus" sounds more less glossed over than "Womanizer" and "3" production wise from what I have heard of these songs. "Radar" really wasn't that big of a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 I don't think.

Yeah she is a beautiful woman no doubt. I only like a few of her songs but she should have waited like a year to put out another CD release after "Rated R". Thats why I see posts on this thread that people are saying she is getting too overexposed or people are getting sick of her.

Yeah well she is just following the Madonna 1990's model. Madonna used to change her style up in the 90's like every album. Madonna was an icon in the 80's so I don't really think she changed her style up then much.
On the red clown hair style she might have gotten dying her hair a weird color off of Katy Perry. Katy Perry's hair is blue now.

"We R Who We R" is a definitive 2010 song. "Blow" is the new Ke$ha song.
"Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor)" by Pitbull and T-Pain is another 2010 summer hit. The clubs were playing it as far back as August, and I think the radio started in September. Definitely not a 2011 song.

E.T. is an old hit from 2010 :D
Back in September 2010, it spent 1 week in the US chart (peaking at #42) and 2 weeks in the Canadian chart (peaking at #13) when it was a promotional single and didn't feature Kanye West. I kind of like it better without Kanye, though the one with Kanye is still good.

There's a great new electronic artist from England called Natalia Kills (real name Natalie Cappucini). Her single 'Mirrors' only made it to #46 in Canada, but that never stopped the radio from broadcasting it like it was a number one hit.
It has not yet charted in the States, nor has it even become a hit in her native UK, but it was a Top 10 hit in Germany.

Yeah. It's pretty funny. He's in every video they have, randomly showing up and rapping in a little kid's song.
I do agree that I don't like random rappers in songs, but I guess I just would've preferred "Alligator Sky" with just the rapper, but in that case I probably wouldn't listen to it. As far as rapping goes I like Immortal Technique and such like that.

So I gather she owes all her #1 hits in part to your purchasing of her albums and singles?
I said imo, meaning "in my opinion". And so what, "Crank Dat Souja Boy" was a #1 single too.

I've noticed saxophones are starting to come back in pop songs(with T.G.I.F and The Edge of Glory being examples), seems like some are trying different sounds with electropop(dubstep, industrial, even metal). The same thing kind of happened with disco around 1979-ish, with the rock-disco hybrid songs(Hot Suff, Heart of Glass, Atomic, the song KISS did).

Heh. I missed the Wikileaks tribute video last fall, the results for the Kontest came in months ago, and I've had the damn album sitting in shrink-wrap while I was on a recent vacation, and have only now gotten around to digging through my backlog to report that the new album kicks ass. The ending track is certainly a WTF?! moment, but it's not like you weren't warned by the album title.
YVCifm2UPC0
- KMFDM, Krank-ing it to '11!
Of course, I've been waiting for anarcho-electro-industrial-rock (pick a genre!) to take off for 20+ years, so don't look at me.
For you n00bs, the german line "Kein Mehrheit Fur Die Mitleid" tranlsates literally to "No majority for the pity", a takeoff on an in-joke that the band's name actually meant something, they went with "No pity for the majority", but they also suggested that it might have had something to do with terminating the existence of (the naughtiest word in Krank) Depeche Mode.
Sometimes I think I'm too old for this stuff. Then I get my tickets for the 2011 tour, and start digging through my T-shirt archive. If I'm still not too fat, I'm still not too old. The only thing that could top that video would be an MLP:FIM AMV parody. Are you listening, Internets?

This song is fantastic. I am surprised it has not reached the US Hot 100 yet (it's currently sitting at #109). She is from Romania, and like fellow Romanian Edward Maya with 'Stereo Love', 'Mr. Saxobeat' made it's first non European chart appearance in Canada.
Her next single 'Get Back (ASAP)' is better and man does she ever look good in the video ...

Yeah she's 20 now (21 in December). "Leave (Get Out)" was one of my favorites in 2004 when I was 17. ;D I remember I thought the girl was late teens/early 20s when I first heard the song, it was hard to believe she was only 13. Her last hit "Too Little Too Late" was in fall 2006, just about exactly 5 years ago now.
