So California just enacted a "Living Donor Registry", trying to get a broader source of donors, since kidney failure is on the rise.

I am on the original donor list (after death) but don't think I am brave enough to go through a surgery like that.  (I would consider it if my kidney was going to a family member or good friend.)  I'm a wuss.

My dad liked kidney pies, but nobody else was expected to eat organ meats.  I'm not knocking them, I'm just saying I didn't grow up with them.

2B honest, I don't think I would donate to a complete stranger.  Maybe it's not what Jesus would do, but lying is not something Jesus would do either.  If I told you I would donate my kidney to a total stranger, I'd be lying.

On the other hand, I would give my own life if I could save a 5-year-old from getting hit by a car.  So, I wonder why I wouldn't give just a kidney to a stranger?  If you are in an immediate position to save a specific person from certain death, you don't take time to contemplate the act.  Donating your kidney is a deliberative process...unless you wake up in a bathtub of ice cubes in a hotel in Jakarta

Honestly, if it would save someone's life, of course I would.  If you could save someone else's child, parent, or spouse, why wouldn't you?  Wouldn't you want someone to save yours if you couldn't?  We are all humans living in a circle with each other.
