I just learned that the dude who did that famous "crying Indian" anti-littering ad, Iron Eyes Cody, was not a Native American at all.  He was Italian, born Espera Oscar de Corti.  :o

Never knew that, but looking him up in Wiki it seems that even though he wasn't native american he identified with them, and was accepted by them.  Kinda cool.

Yusef Islam never said Salmon Rushdie was a valid target for a fatwa.  Quite the contrary.  He did say Rushdie's "Satanic Verses" were blasphemous, and that he needed to retrieve as many copies of the book as possible and burn them, and donate all the profits from the book to charity if he wanted to make right with Allah.  That's Islam.  They don't screw around.
