Subject: Hoarders... Do we really need TWO shows about them?
Written By: LyricBoy on 03/14/10 at 1:22 pm
Wathcing TV this weekend, I see that the cable channel TLC has decided to rip off A&E's successful show, "Hoarders".
TLC's will be entitled "Hoarders: Buried Alive". ::)
Are there that many hoarders out there that we need TWO of these shows? ???
Next of course we will probably see somebody dream up a reality show. Maybe they will lock up an OCD "hoarder" and somebody who is an OCD "clean freak" in a house like "Big Brother".

See, now I might reconsider getting cable if they did shows like this. You know, pit complete opposites against each other. Hoarders vs. OCD, Yankees fans vs. Red Sox fans, Pro-life vs. Pro-Choice, and my personal favorite, militant vegans vs. carnivores.

The "clean out the mess" shows seem to be the "in thing" these days. You have Clean Sweep (which was started on TLC) and then Style copied with Clean House. Then A&E had Hoarders followed by TLC's Hoarders: Buried Alive. When it comes to reality shows, they all have to copy each other. The same thing could be said about ghost shows. First you had Ghost Hunters (on SyFy) followed by Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel and the list goes on and on and on. As for needed two shows about it, the networks will find out in terms of ratings.

Wasn't there a play/t.v. show about that? It think it was called the Odd Couple. :D ;D ;D ;D

actually the hoarding shows started a decade ago with Clean Sweep and Mission Organization. There was also Neat! and some british show I don't recall the name of. Then, as Cat pointed out, came Clean House, and before that was the show about the filthy buggers in the UK and in the US as depicted on How Clean Is Your House...
Hoarders and Hoarding are just a new wave of this type of programming and I can watch them all (except Clean House cuz Neecy drives me nuts) all day long... I love this shyt cuz it makes me feel better about my apt. in comparison I'm really not that bad!

I agree. While we're on the subject of snowclones, do we really need Ice Road Truckers, Ax Men and all those? Wasn't Deadliest Catch enough?
They really shouldn't make mental illness a gimmick either. :-\\

I think there already are two lumberjack reality shows. One is Axe Men, I forget the name of the other one.
I wonder when we'll have a reality series that is based on real-life prisoners in a state or federal prison? The potential for plotlines is really endless.

The point being is that producers can't come up with an original idea. This has to do with t.v. shows as well as movies. If there is a good idea, then everyone jumps on the bandwagon and create their own version of the idea. Then they have to do sequels. What really gets me (in terms of movies) is the fact that they have recycle old t.v. shows. ::) That's what comes from having 150 channels and nothing on.

Actually I tune out whenever I see a reality show that is about people in a workplace. I get enough b*tching and moaning during the day and don't need to see it on my TV too. ;D

I hear ya about Neecy. She does drive me crazy, too. They have a new chick on there now. And yeah, they do make me feel better, too. Right now, my dinning room is STILL bad because I haven't finished painting my kitchen shelves. They should be finished by next week and then the shelves go up and I can find my dinning room table again.
