that's progress for yah. it's an Apple product though, so people will buy it regardless of whether it's needed or not I guess. I'll take an HP TC 1100 thanks

I'd be more than happy to take Jobs' complete list of products, "fails" and all, over the products that any of us here at inthe00s.com have put to market.
My opinion, I think that people make a mistake in thinking that the iPad needs to have all the doodads and geegaws that a laptop or notebook has.
My view is that the iPad is not the "third device" that some people have described it. I see it as an "alternative to a laptop".
There are LOTS of roadies (I'm talking about the ones who are not really techies) out there who lug around the latest and most expensive laptops, but they only use them to browse the web or check email. The iPad, I think, could be a compelling device for them, and vastly more convenient to use. "Power users" likely will not be interested in the iPad.
Will be interesting to see how the iPad pans out. I imagine that it will not be as big of a hit as the iPhone, nor will it become a high-tech doorstop like the Newton was (Newton not being a Jobs device, by the way).
My only "beef" about the iPad is that I thought it would be cool to have a forward-facing camera, to enable teleconferencing. My guess is that AT&T would not support this feature though, as it would be a colossal bandwidth hog.
