I was going to resurrect my old biggest loser thread but since its a new decade and all I thought it'd be more appropriate to start a new thread...


so Season 9 started last night 1/6/2010 and not only were the contestants the biggest ever (one guy weighs 526 and twins weigh 969lbs combined... and there is just 1 lb difference in their weight.)

I could've kicked ass on that bicycling for 26 miles but the workouts that followed were way intense... scary even.. but it resulted in some major weight loss... This is only my third season so I am by no means an expert but I think these may be the biggest numbers ever.. all the guys lost 23-29 lbs... the women averaged 13-18

I felt bad for the two families who had to go home... I think its rude to eliminate contestants on day one... I don't care if they get to work with bob and jillian at home I still think they should get a chance at one week at the ranch...

can't believe the twin that went home already lost 100lbs... 100lbs in two months (At HOME!!!! INSANE!!!!)

at least they have full access to round the clock medical... the thing is when they are on the ranch their job is to work out so they work out about 8 hours a day every day of the week. They are on a strict diet so of course the weight just falls off... but to do it at home amidst all the distractions and stuff (now that's hard!)

1/4 cup red wine
2 cups Muir Glen diced fire roasted tomatoes (sodium free)
1 sprig thyme
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup broccoli, cut into small pieces
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
5 kalamata olives, pitted and roughly chopped
1 cup steamed brown rice to serve

Method


    * Heat a large saucepot over medium high heat and add 1 teaspoon of oil to the pan.

    * Season the chicken with pepper and sear for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

    * Remove the chicken to a plate and add the remaining oil to the pan.

    * Saute the onions for 3 minutes stirring constantly, then add the garlic and bell peppers.

    * Cook the garlic and peppers for 2 minutes and add the mushrooms.

    * Cook the mushrooms for 4 minutes stirring often.

    * Add the red wine and allow to reduce until almost dry.

    * Add the tomatoes to the pot and stir well.

    * Add the thyme, bay leaf and oregano.

    * Bring to the simmer and reduce heat to low.

    * Add the chicken back to the sauce and simmer gently for 8 to 10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly.

    * Stir in all but one pinch of the parsley.

    * To serve, spoon 1/4 cup of brown rice onto the center of a serving plate.

    * Place one portion of chicken on top of the rice and spoon some of the sauce and vegetables over the chicken, repeat with remaining plates.

    * Sprinkle a little of the chopped olives and remaining parsley over each plate of chicken and serve.

YEah last week the red team got immunity and she decided that if she tanked last week (which is notoriously a bad week on the show anyway) then she could come back with big numbers the following week... so last week she gained one pound. 

I think this week she thought well I'm not weighing in so if I tank it again I can pull really big numbers next week but she's not thinking about her metabolism getting hit hard by her inconsistency

this is true. It just seems like Ron (the god father from a couples seasons ago) and the dads mentioned in my posts (and a few others I can't recall right now) had really bad knee problems (aside from the normal issues due to weight) and its painful to watch them lumbering around and stuff.

Must have been in withdrawls last night.. I had two biggest loser dreams.

1) Jillian Michaels was a contestant on the show...not a coach...and she bitched and moaned about working out more than all the other contestants put together.

2) Biggest Loser was being held at UCSB and I was a contestant... only I forgot that I had participated in the show three years prior and they showed the clip of me getting booted out - I'd lost 18lbs the first week and then 4 the second... they said I was lazy and had to go... This time around I swore I'd do better.. I was on with a cop I work with... who's a nice guy but a bit annoying - in my dream he was jabbering away and I begged to be let off the show just so I could get some peace  ;D

basically exercise alone does not help middle aged women lose weight. Women who exercise 60 minutes a day but maintain q regular American diet will still gain weight. Middle aged women must exercise and have a healthy diet for the exercise to be effective.

I wonder if they'll bring him back like they did Daniel b/c....as Bob said last week- he's going home at a weight most people come into the show carrying.... my guess is he comes to the finale at about 315 wait ( 526-204 =322) oh my bad... I mean my guess is he comes back weighing maybe 285.... I think they've two months at home...

Well I do get annoyed when she pouts because she "isn't getting her way" i.e. when she thinks she's going home. She actually handled last night with more grace than I expected her too but that's probably because her daddy wasn't there.  I think its because he coddles her and spoils her so she may be more inclined to act out in his presence.  I still like her but not that bratty side of her...

Lucky you!  it started when Helen (who won two seasons ago) and that guy who won in season 3 but gained back most of the weight came back to talk about ups and downs of after the show...  anyway they try to encourage him but all he can see is how fat he still is.... they tell him to focus on how well he's doing then he has a complete and total melt down with Bob.  I was looking for a clip but apparently we'll have to wait until next week.

all in all it was a good season.

But koli was still robbed :P

I was impressed with Michael's weight loss but he looked weird.  Kinda like he was holding in his gut the whole time. 

I think Darris looked great...good for him.

Ashley was just gorgeous. 

Koli definitely made the wrong decision in wearing those pants...they were awful.  Glad he at least got the 100 grand.
