The flare up between Israel and Lebanon, intensified even more so, this time....
Over a tree.

It was a Cyprus tree...so how come the Cypriots aren't upset? ::) Makes about as much sense as anything else going on here... :-\\

er.. possibly because it's "cypress", not "Cyprus"?
Can't help but wonder, though:
This time the tree trimming was followed by gunfire from the Lebanese army, apparently aimed not at the soldier hanging over the fence, but at a base some distance away, where a senior officer was killed by a shot to the head. Another officer was wounded. Israel responded with gunfire and shelling, killing two Lebanese soldiers and a journalist.
...so was the tree-trimming anything to do with this? i.e. was the gunfire from the Lebanese army pointed somewhere else a response to the tree being hacked back.. why didn't they go for the guy on their side of the fence?
