He should try dumpster diving for a couple of days.  His remarks are no surprise, but hunger in this country IS a big problem.

This totally p!sses me off. Anyone who knows me, knows that hunger is one of my pet causes. I used to be the local food shelf coordinator. I have SEEN the faces of these hungry people-and many of them are working several jobs. It is apparent that Rush has never been hungry a day in his life. I would just love to smack him in the face with a fish!

To think there are millions of people who listen to that man every day and call themselves Christians.  I don't care if he was "joking" or "being sarcastic," the Rush raison d'etre for the past 20 years has been to comfort the comfortable and afflict the afflicted.  Nothing could be less Christian than that.  Nothing.  

I remember back in '80s, AG Ed Meese said that people who go to soup kitchens do so because they are too lazy to cook at home.  If you protested, "But they have no home to go to," he'd probably say they were too lazy to find somewhere to live!

Limbaugh is trying a similar ploy.  Free market capitalism works great.  It can't fail.  It can only BE failed.  If those kids are hungry, it's because their parents are stupid, lazy, on drugs, or whatever.  You know, character flaws.

Cat knows otherwise from working in a food pantry.  Most Americans are a lot closer to getting their daily bread from a food pantry than getting a Rush breakfast-in-bed with caviar ala mode!

Anyway, the right wing doesn't even want us to have public schools in the first place, let alone public schools with meal programs.

It is political pornography designed to trigger a response.  In the old days a gentleman did not flaunt a lack of compassion.  He might have lacked compassion, but he knew better than to flaunt it.  See, Rush and all these baby-boomer/gen-x right wing commentators have "money" but not "class."  Not that "class" is what it's chalked up to be either!
