Neither.  Obama might have wanted to be a commie at one time in the distant past, but he's not.  And no, the tea partiers aren't high; given their demographic, they probably even oppose marijuana legalization.

I was a member of the Progressive Labor Party when I was a kid and the party kept trying to recruit the poor Black youth from the inner city.  To the party's bewilderment, yeah they hated The Man, but what they wanted to do more than anything was work for a buck and live the American Dream and they didn't give a good goddam about Hegelian dialectical materialism and all that grad school b.s.

Contrary to what the Tea Party bozos think, those of us who have had trouble succeeding in the American system would prefer to work for a share of the pie than get a hand out from the government. 

It is the corporations who only want to hire a few types of perky, upbeat yes-men for administrative chores at home and to export the means of production to the Third World that perpetuate the poverty and government transfer dependence we see. 

The way the corporate hegemon has a lockdown on both manufacture and retail, crime is the real frontier for entrepreneurship.  I mean, they've dismantled the welfare state to the point where it doesn't buy food and shelter. 

(The entrepreneur becomes a corporatist and under our system is allowed to lock the door on the other entrepreneurs in a given field.) 

Intuitively, the Tea Partiers know they're next on the chopping block, so the right-wing spin machine deftly recruited them to fight against their own interests.  "Illegal aliens are stealing our jobs" packs more punch than "dialectical materialism."

Obama trotted into office with no political machine to back him up.  All he wanted was mild reforms that would keep America from turning into Honduras, and for that he gets called a commie.
