Subject: Pinko CEO?

I had a epiphany recently concerning the direction our society is headed. Over the past few months we've heard from the more conservative elements in our society about fears of socialism and communism. Yet in an ironic twist it may actually be our hyper-capitalism itself that is transforming into a communist market system.
From my understanding, the communist systems works by having each sector of the economy controlled by a central entity. This leads to an artificial and arbitrary economy. Capitalism on the other hand claims to work by letting competition in a free market determine the economy.
Yet over the years and especially over the past few years, the forces of capitalism have been resembling those of communism and will continue to do so. Minus the occasional exception, each sector of the economy has been continuously consolidating. This has been a process through mergers, failures, and now even programs of government ownership by presidents of both parties. And the effect of this process becomes even larger when these multi-corporate entities also dominate other markets and sectors of the economy. In the end we might end up with only one entity in each area of the economy directly deciding cost of supply and the price of demand. Or in other words an artificially planned economy.
Will we reach this stage one day? Is it inevitable? Is it desirable or something to avoid?

As Adam Smith pointed out, way back in 1776, capitalists hate competition and will do anything to avoid it. And as Marx pointed out, they would do so through combinations, trusts, monopolies etc. So yea, it is inevitable
