McMillen: I Was Sent to Fake Prom
...a parent-organized prom happened behind her back — she and her date were sent to a Friday night event at a country club in Fulton, Miss., that attracted only five other students. Her school principal and teachers served as chaperones, but clearly there wasn't much to keep an eye on.
Birmingham News
She spent all Saturday getting ready, fixing her hair, slipping into the pink floral dress her mother finished the week before. Her father, a Baptist preacher, helped pick her a date, a respectable young man worthy of escorting his daughter, the first and only black student at Jones Valley High School.
She and her date drove that night with her father and a retinue of supporters and protectors toward the high school gym. They turned the corner. The gymnasium was dark, empty.
Can you guess which happened when?

The more and more I think about this the more and more I am appalled. The whole thing was perpetuated by the parents which are really setting a good example to their kids-NOT!!!! I think it is cruel, nasty, & just plain mean. I betcha anything these people are so-called Christians.
They will get theirs-THREE-FOLD!!!

The kids have no excuse, either. I hold them all fully accountable for their bigoted actions, and I hope Karma bites them in the ass. BIG TIME.
I can't say anything more beyond this because I've been pissed off since hearing about it.

The comments on this page are excellent.
And it seems that good ol' Itawamba pulled some similar crap not that long ago:
Itawamba Suspends Transgender Student
The reasons for a student's suspension are supposed to be noted on the suspension form, according to Bennett, but that part of Baize's suspension notice was left blank.
