Subject: Fear and Loathing In Washington

Apparently, it hasn't taken too long, for the lunatics to come out of asylum.

That is NOT cool at all. The Secret Service does not take things like that too kindly. When I was in the service, I recall getting a briefing about some guy who's personal plans were thwarted by a visit by the president on his base (can't recall which president it was) and he made some comment like, "I could kill the president." The guy's supervisor told his commander who in turn told the authorities and the secret service was all over that guy's ass. He even served some time in jail. The thing is, after that whenever the president (and it didn't matter WHICH president it was) came to town, the guy had to serve that time locked up-for the rest of his life.

That's some bad mojo.

Those tweets pass the "clear and present danger test," which still draws the line between free speech and criminal conduct.  To suggest someone who has a clear shot of the president shoot him incites "imminent lawless action," as defined in Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969).  An ACLU lawyer might argue otherwise and so might I in a more pacific political climate.  However, the country is angrier, scarier, and more irrational than I have ever seen it in my life.  The bogus Tea Party movement and the disciples of Glenn Beck and that ilk have fancied themselves new revolutionaries.  The are armed, angry, and ignorant.  Never a good combination.

To give those Tweeters (Twitters...Twits?) the benefit of the doubt, maybe they aren't serious about assassinating the president and are too ignorant to understand the gravity of their words.  However, the Secret Service isn't gonna take that chance.  No way.

I am afraid, that one day, some John Hinckley like douchbag is going to come along.

Which, is why I don't wish the job of President on anyone, if you try to please someone, they will be pissed off.

Anger them? More so.

It reminds of back in the late 90's, when Colin Powell was asked if he would ever run for President, because he was continually asked about running for President.

His response?

"I would to run that by my wife."

Her response?

Since she was afraid of him being in a continual line of fire, of every lone nut bag psycho shooter, out there, the answer would be no.

I know.  It seems like Beck is playing with live dynamite, and could really care less.

::)

The whole Tea Party movement, angry outraged people, and following a dangerous person, like Glenn Beck, is a lethal combination.

::)

The angry, pissed off, and loaded thing, is starting to scare me.

Even more, people have been threatening to do something extreme, if the bill is passed, out of a blind fear that America, is going to turn into a Socialist, third party, hell out, should it happen.

Secret Service really tightened things up after the attempt on Reagan.  In 20 years we had one completed assassination of a president (Kennedy), and three attempts (two on Ford, one on Reagan).  Didn't look good, so they reassessed security measures and made it nearly impossible to get to the president.  I'm not too worried about Obama, though you never know.  I'm more concerned about a congressman or senator getting assassinated.

What REALLY disgusts me is the sheer uncivil and un-Christian ugliness displayed by those who would claim to love liberty and Christianity.  It's reaching a zealous pitch reminiscent of Nazi Germany.

Speaking as a Roman Catholic, who is disappointed with child abuse allegations, the lack of dealing with those who committed said abuse, and "the sheer uncivil and un-Christian ugliness displayed by those who would claim to love liberty and Christianity," I couldn't agree more.

That being said, it makes you wonder what side the Secret Service is on.

For someone who breached White House security, she is not half bad looking!

Personally, I think not only should the Secret Service should have been called on this incident but also the Fashion Police.
