Subject: Health Care Vote Thread Redux
Written By: Foo Bar on 03/21/10 at 7:56 pm
Apparently there's some sort of health care thingy going on today.

So I turned on C-SPAN...

...and fired up the Intertubes...
http://i39.tinypic.com/21m9mix.jpg
...to watch the health care "debate":
http://neurosybir.net/nkoan/images/monkey_knife_fight.jpg
There were graphs...
http://img2.moonbuggy.org/imgstore/hindenburg-altitude-vs-the-humanity.jpg
...and pie charts...
http://graphjam.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/pie-chart-20090811-123901.jpg
...and tables that said when to take a sip of beer, and when to yell "BINGO!".

Because something's gonna be rammed down somebody's throat, even if nobody remembers whether they want it or not at this point.

There was about an hour of this:
http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/1036/kaynereviseextend.jpg
And some representatives who just wouldn't yield the floor when their time was up.

Sadly, nobody took it to the next level. No Thailand-style fistfights on the floor, much less...
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z168/Goddamnidiot/22363_2_camacho.jpg
Closest we got was this...
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm101/kaplan23/evileeye.jpg
...and repeated calls to heed the gavel.
http://i43.tinypic.com/2vikqra.jpg
but it looks like the Dems are finally gonna get it across the finish line.

What? There's no thread about it? Now there is! Let the braying and bellowing of barnyard animals continue!

Well, I'd like to say that was worth the wait. A trillion bucks and not one floor fistfight!

Let the sabotage begin! The insurance companies are going to cut through this bill like a hot knife through butter!

I was watching/listening to C-SPAN all day yesterday on the computer and then after the computer was turned off, it was turned on on the t.v. Yeah, we listened to MSNBC, CNN, & even FOX Noise for a bit but eventually went back to C-SPAN. Stayed up late watching history being made.

Does this mean I can no longer say I would never live in the US because the health care system sucks?

They have to insure babies! What have babies ever done to deserve insurance?! What work have they done?! What stock options do they possess?!

Trust me, you'll be able to still go on saying that for years to come. It doesn't matter how much money is pissed away on providing health care in this country, it will always treat people like crap.
The most the bill is going to do, is take some of the harshness off the edges of it.

Chucky, if American health care was so crappy why do people from overseas come to the US for a major operation? I have been in the US health care system since they day I was born because I have a heart condition. I am satisfied with the quality of health care I have gotten for thefirst 30 years of my life. The problem with US healthcare is the cost not the quality. I mean the out of pocket are too much if you get a surgery. While I am not a fan of Obama Care I hope it does lower health care inflation. We have double digit inflation in health care costs currently.

Do you think it is any better for those that already had "Government Health Care" before this passed?
Ask most of those that were supposed to be able to use the VA. There are organizations that exist for no other reason then to try and force the Government to provide what it was already obligated to provide. And it only covered 10% of the population.
Now the other 90% can see how wonderful that system is.

I, for one, use the VA. It is true that it is not perfect, but I have had good service. But, like anything, it could be improved.

Because they are RICH. America has terrific health care...if you can afford it.

...or the procedure is experimental. If you look closely at the heartwarming stories of children brought to the US for treatment, children who otherwise couldn't afford it in their own countries, you will find that the treatments are experimental, the kids are guinea pigs. Boston Children's does it all the time, they advertise their largesse in providing life saving, or life changing surgeries, to children from destitute backgrounds in foreign countries. But what it really is trial procedures on the most vulnerable.

And you don't know what an exception you are. Most I have talked to have a far different experience. As a general rule, unless you are retired or 30%+ disabled (when they are obligated to cover you no matter what), it is like pulling teeth to get most services from them. I found it easier to do without then wait the 3+ months just to get motrin (and they would deny me for anything else).
