No, we should have the person best able to execute the position.  Having someone because of some other reason (they're anti-choice, they would make a good drinking buddy, etc) leads to people making decisions like what we had on 2000.

Palin his burned so many bridges within her own party (especially with the book) not to mention that moderates tend to think she's extreme and the liberals thinks she's unhinged.  She might get some nominations, but it would be Mike Huckabee all over again.  Win some southern states in the primaries, lose the rest.

Personally I think she was joking when she said Beck.  He has zero political experience and would just get shredded in a run for any office.

I'd pick John Waters for the Palin running mate.  He could just film the whole campaign and have his next movie in the can...maybe the Cannes!
