In the long run, I think Beck is hurting the GOP more than he helps it.  He's becoming more and more like Alex Jones in his demeanor and conspiracy theories.

That's a great way to alienate the moderate majority.

All these Republican shock jocks make Father Coughlin seem like a choir boy(oun intended).  The repugs like it because it solidifys its wide, but intellectually shallow, base.  The pugs do not have any qualms about playing along with the representatives of the lowest common denominator.

He (the boy) said "God is Love" and some things Obama says is true. It seems that he's acting like a father here and why not? He has two daughters.

What would happen if someone said that...four years ago? (with Bush)?

The plan is to alienate the moderate majority---the moderates are considered by the far righties to be "RINOs" and "Socialism-lite.''
Go to the Hannity Forums and other conservative havens--they want the moderates completely out of the party, national party status be damned!
I think of Beck as more the modern Joseph McCarthy. I mean McCarthy went as far as to openly accuse the Democratic party of "20 years of treason" in 1953--Meaning that FDR and Truman were traitors. Beck is saying the same thing except much more subtle.

And unlike McCarthy, Beck will succeed--This country is going to be a very dark place when Beck is through. This may sound dramatic but I think it will come to the point where those with left wing views are hunted--look what happened to that abortion doctor, Tiller. I think this will begin to happen on large scale to just normal people who hold left wing views.
By the time Beck is over, our country will have returned to the 1920s--that is what conservatives want; They are no fans of Democracy--Their arm is a theocracy, a world where your views must align with that of the Becks and Limbaughs of the country--or else.

That's what I'm afraid of, a witch hunt in which those with ideas different then others, are rounded up, browbeaten, and have their lifes destroyed, just because they don't agree with someone like Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, or Imus.

They would prefer the return of the 20's. When people where kept in checked, scared of letting ideas be known, and stayed at home, out of fear of being caught.

I mean, you can't be too careful, what with Pedobear himself making an appearance in a legal filing (PDF link) regarding the scurrilous rumors of the young girl's life that Glenn Beck made not only miserable (the rumors say he raped her) but also short (and then the rumors say he murdered her), back in 1990.
