Subject: Van Jones resigns

Written By: Ryan112390 on 09/06/09 at 12:01 am

Van Jones, special environmental advisor to the President (aka "Green Jobs Czar") resigns weeks after being hired, amidst pressure from conservatives (specifically Glenn Beck). On the Hannity Boards, they are jubiliant--They say though there is more work to be done, that all of the Czars along with the ''head honcho'' (Obama) must go. If they keep this up, we could see the second resignation or the third impeachment of a President in our history. Beck is doing to Obama what Woodward and Bernstein did to Nixon, and like Woodward and Bernstein, if the Republicans gain seats or a majority next year, he will succeed.

I think maybe you should go back to the books and research Watergate, Woodward and Bernstein, and get a bit of perspective.

I doubt that we have a Watergate situation going on here.

That said, Van Jones had to go due to his being an embarassment to the O'Bama administration, and kudos to the administration for kicking him to the curb unceremoniously.  It became clear to van that O'Bama was gonna cut him loose, so he resigned.

And likely this is best for O'Bama anyway.  Van Jones' biography is one of a gadfly who jumped from issue to issue, and who fooled quite alot of people along the way.  The President no doubt will appoint somebody to the position who is supremely more fit to serve than Jones was.

Just saw Obama advisor David Axlerod on Meet The Press and this subject came up.

Man, he obfuscated on this subject like he was Chris Brown on Larry King.  ;D  He was asked if Obama was offended by Jones' comments and said "well the President and I have not discussed this issue".  When asked if Axlerod himself was offended, he said (words to the effect) "this story broke over such a short time, I have not really read all the comments".  ::)

My take... Obama told his people to "make this problem go away" quickly and quietly.  Good call on his part.  :)

Van Jones is a small cat.  He's not consequential.  He was the "Green Jobs Czar." He happened to be a guy who had a hard left past, and he got through the vetting process.  Beck and Savage and all those clowns zeroed in on him as the bete noir.

Well if you listen to Beck and Savage, etc, they're now going after the other Czars. They don't just want Van Jones gone, they want all of them gone. And since all of them have shady pasts, it's likely they'll be successful.

yesh... one small fry and they think they're going to land Jaws next... it's like saying Harriet Meyers failing to make it to Supreme Court justice was going to land Bush in jail in short order.

Weren't there a couple of cabinet positions that Bush had people resign from for similar mistakes that no one caught until it was too late?

Yeah I can't remember who they were, but every administration, Repub or Dem, has a few miscreants who di not get weeded out until they have made it into a government post.

Clinton had Ron Brown and Mike Espy, Bush II had Scooter and a couple a other guys, and no doubt O'Bama will have a couple mor eouted.

IN the end the problem for Presidents when these situations arise is not really what the person did, but moreso as to how the President handles the situation, transparently and quickly.

You know, there is always a silver lining in every cloud.

With his departure from his career in government, Van can resume his effort to free the convicted cop killer Mumia Abdul-Jabaar.
