I suspect most of the Northeast will allow gay marriage before the rest of the country catches on (other than Iowa, of course).

I can't wait to see the editorials in the Manchester Loony Reader if gay marriage comes to pass in NH!

I've always liked Maine. It's practically part of Canada in my book. It has enough francophones and maritime culture to give New Brunswick a run for its money.
Seriously, we need to redraw the maps. We want Vermont, Maine, some of the Adirondacks and Seattle. Let's make it happen! :D
... Of course, I'm only kidding. I don't think it could really ever work.

Yeah, Iowa confused the hell out of me with that, Congrats Maine on realizing that allowing gay marriage does not force religion to accept or recognize it, now just 45 states to become educated. . . :)

I would love to go back 30 years, newspaper in hand, and show the John Bircher guys in my NH hometown what's coming down the pike in 30 years...their frikkin' heads would pop like a TNT pinata!

Yesterday Terri Gross interviewed the lead lawyer in the case. She pointed out that Iowa has done a number of surprising things over the years, like integrating its schools well before Brown V board of ed, so it 's not all that surprising.

After the 2004 election, there was a movement (if you can call it that) to have Vermont join Canada.
