As everyone knows by now, Justice David Souter is retiring. Many repugs have announced that they will try to block Obama's nominee no matter who it is. So much for a reasoned loyal opposition.

Never get things done that way. Unless of course Dems try for a filibuster. Do Republicans even have enough votes to make a difference?

I dunno. :-\\ It all seems rather crazy (for lack of a better word). I hope his nominee is someone who'll be accepted.

Its the repugs who will try to filibuster, but with Specter now a dem, and if (when) Franken gets seated, the dems will be able to overcome it with a vote for cloture without having to rely on either Snow or Collins.

I'd like to see another woman justice on the bench, and make her as far left as Roberts is far right.

My bet is he'll try for a hispanic woman. Although if he bows to the party machine we'll end up with Mrs. Rendell on the court. Cause she's a Federal Judge and her husband is a power hungry whino.

At least the rednecks won't be hanging around outside his cabin in NH trying to claim it for eminent domain or whatever those jagoffs were doing a few years ago!
