Subject: Right wing noise machine revs up

Written By: Don Carlos on 01/23/09 at 12:05 pm

Last night we watched Hannity's America (Colms is no longer around) with an interview of the big gas bag (Rush).  I was appalled by the blatant lack of patriotism both these a'holes expressed.  It wasn't just that they were questioning Obama's positions on issues.  They were almost calling for assassination.

So, given the tread about how conservatives here are treated, I though I'd post this to give you all the opportunity to repudiate these two.

Man, that is one sorry sight!  Two fascist crybabies screaming on the downside of a Republican sugar binge!

Are you asshats gonna do that for the next four years or are you gonna go find something remotely interesting to talk about?

Carlos...

Don't be surprised that you hear about The KKK anytime soon.

Hate has been around for years...it will never go away.

Yeah, as have hate filled media starts.  It seems to me that people, after a time, wised up to them.  Father Coughlin is a prime example.  The fact that these guys are mainstream is what is seriously troubling.

I just cruised past FOX.  Hannity's moving towards the center...he's gone from Rush to Rudy!

You miss the point.  In another thread on this board Odyssey asked if there were ANY conservatives here, and several began moaning about how badly they are treated by the liberals (I'm not liberal, I on the left).  I present this thread so the conservatives can have a chance to distance themselves from the fascists.  So where are they?

First-I was the one who made the Conservative thread.

Second-Many Conservatives (Like Bush) are Neo-Conservatives, many dabble into Nationalism which leads into Fascism.

Third-Both Nationalism and Socialism are competing against each other. Remember WWII, Stalin and Hitler tried to make amends, but didn't work. Stalin was a Socialist and Hitler was a Nationalist.

And what about that cheerful song, "Barack, the Magic Negro"?

But like the "drunken negro head" cookies, the song was all in good fu! ::)

I like how that guy used the excuse, "My brother-in law, he’s Cuban. So, you know, I like everybody."  That's like saying, "I don't dislike homosexuals, some of my best friends are gay!"

By the way, did anyone catch that clip with that person on Fox News saying that the Obamas enjoyed engaging in fisting?  She meant "fist bumping", but it....erm....came out wrong. ;D

What?  Am I missing something?

I still haven't heard any conservatives distance themselves from the right wing loonies like hannity, Limbaugh, and colter.

Those people are part of what is a minority...The Conservative Media.

Many people's opinions on the Media is from very Liberal cities such as Washington, New York, and Los Angles.

Those are very BIG cities and it depends on who you ask in them.  You will find where the money and power is there is a pro-corporate point of view regardless of attitudes on social issues.  Where there is a conflict between corporate interests and social needs, corporate interests take precedent.  The "media" (as seen on TV) is owned and staffed by people who earn many times the average annual income; therefore, you will find they are pro-corporate even when appearing "left of center."  Chris Matthews might say, "So what if two gay guys wanna get married, they aren't bothering you!" That's because there really is no corporate interest in preventing gay marriage.  However, Matthews might say in the same program, "Sure, we need some kind of healthcare reform, but we don't wanna do what Canada does 'cos who wants to wait in line for surgery?"  Healthcare is considered a "social issue," but there is billions of dollars in corporate profits at stake when you consider reform, so bigshot journalists are cagey about it going public.

I caused a lot of argy-bargy on another thread when I said "Sex and the City" had nothing to do with social issues, it was just there to sell sh*t.  Well, so are Chris Matthews, David Gregory, and Rachel Maddow for that matter (sorry Rache, you dance with the devil, the devil always leads), it'as all about selling in the commercial media for it's not called the commercial media for nothing.

Good God yes!  It only took me 1/2 an episode to wonder what the hell was the attraction.  Product placement elevated to an absolute art.

That was not the sentiment towards me on the SATC questions thread on the Tenacious Tuxedos page!  The show has many a fan around here!
:(

Argy Bargy:  British slang for a heated or lively discussion, I think rhyming from "argie," diminutive of argument but pronounced like "ardgie-bardgie."

Also the title of a 1980 album by Squeeze.

Also gained currency during the Falklands conflict of 1982, due in no small part to that well-known comic, The Sun...
