If it does affect him, I have a feeling it will affect him positively. Of course I mean in the election, not personally. If nothing else, maybe people won't be as nasty and they would have been tomorrow.

Barack Obama's grandmother, whose personality and bearing shaped much of the life of the Democratic presidential contender, has died, Obama announced Monday, one day before the election. Madelyn Payne Dunham was 86.

On the flip side, there will be those who will think that he will be pleased that she died in time for him to get sympathy votes, or engineered the death to that effect.

One of the news aggregation sites I read had comments from people like "I hope they check for a death certificate to make sure he's not trying to get sympathy votes"

Yup. I've also seen comments about how he didn't care about her, how he wasn't there for her, how he didn't visit her when she was ill (which is totally stupid, cause wasn't he there last week?) and the kicker....why isn't he in Hawaii now? ::)

was I talking specifically about Democrats? Are there not a lot of former Republicans who are sitting on the fence as of who to vote for? Maybe you aren't persuaded easily...but there are people out there that hear a sad story and that helps them make up their mind.

Gosh darn those sappy Republicans. They're the worst kind. :D I've been listening to the news all night and it wasn't mentioned. I'll go with a small number of voters, very small.

Last night, I wondered if she voted for Barack before she died-via absentee voting. That would have been great.
