Y'know, I've seen worse debates. Lehrer let the two take shots at each other, and for the most part, they stuck to the issues. McCain proved he wasn't a senile old goat, and Obama proved he wasn't an empty suit. Nice solid wonkish performances on both parts. I'll call it Obama's win by a nose, because he only went into irrelevant personal anecdotes once, and he only did it in response to McCain's bracelet story, whereas McCain slipped into "distract them with an irrelevant story" mode two or three times over the course of the debate.
Can't wait for the VP debate. Based on Palin's interviews over the past week, I think Biden's going to mop the floor with Palin, but at I'll get to stare at a hot chick with a nice rack for 45 minutes, and as long as I only need one hand to hold my beer, I can think of worse ways to spend 90 minutes. Onwards and downwards!

It sucked because they let Jim Lehrer run the show, and the guy's a drag and a bore. I want Jon Stewart for the VP debate!

I agree with Foo Bar, Obama won, just slightly. But that's all he had to do.

What I found interesting is that the subject (foreign affairs) is supposed to McCain's strong suit. According to the pundits, he needed a BIG win last night and it was pretty much a tie (or very close to it). If he can only come close to a tie on his strong suit, I'm curious how he is going to do on a issue that he is weak in-like the economy.
On CNN last night, they had Joe Biden weigh in after. Someone emailed CNN asking why they didn't have Palin, too. Wolf Blizter said they asked Palin to come and speak but she declined. What a surprised. ::) (Anderson Cooper said, "Don't hold your breath." ;D ;D ;D )
Like Foo Bar, I'm looking forward to the VP debate. That should be very interesting.

Gotta love That A.C... I too am looking forward to the V.P. Debates. I thought AObama did very well, McCain was too busy name dropping, and ignoring the camera. I think he only looked at Barak one time during the entire debate. Whereas Obama addressed the camera (America and the world), McCain chose to speak or rather look at the moderator.

I felt like both McCain and Obama said stuff but none of it made me think that they had specific plans, just a lot of sound bites. I liked some of Obama's digs on McCain though :)

I'm thinking that they are finding reasons right now to cancel the Biden/Palin debate. I breezed in and out of the Obama/McCain, but I am expecting Sarah to be the best thing since "I Love Lucy"

What I got from the debate is that one came out on top for being calm and collected, Presidential material (Obama). The other looked like the veins where going to pop out of his head and he was uncomfortable (McCain).
McCain is a much better debater than Bush, but that really isn't saying much. When you truely have nothing more to go on, you result to belittling the other person. That is pretty much what McCain did in the debate. Obama was the bigger person by accepting that some of the things John McCain said where right, and never once really said anything derogatory to him. McCain did well, but like it was said before, this is his strong suite and I think he did not knock it out of the park.
Who cares about everyone you know in the world? If you can't restore our status in the world, it is not going to matter. Experience doesn't help when your foreign policy is going to go down the same path of stupidity. A strong alli in the Middle East? Really?
So who is more Presidential? No comparison to me. Although, I don't think a whole lot is going to change my mind on who I am going to vote for.

You may be right, but I think it would be a bigger mistake than letting her put her feet in her mouth. It would show that she just couldn't hack it and was afraid.

What I find truly remarkable is how the McCain camp declared victory in the debate BEFORE the debate actually happened. :o :o :o
