Subject: GOP Convention

Looks like it's going to be small and may not beat out the Democratic Convention since Bush won't be there since he's focused on Hurricane Katrina Gustav.

I don't even know if he'll be via Satellite.

I wonder if it would have been considered a genius move to cancel the GOP convention...

A-- nobody cares anyway except to gawk at Sarah Palin

B-- it would make it seem like the GOP actually cared that NOLA was about to get bitchslapped by a hurricane again

But what do I know...

Depends on how much you like New Middle-Aged Men on the Block!

To be fair, no one could say for sure this weekend if the Gustav wouldn't slam directly into N.O. as a cat. 4 or cat. 5 storm, which would have been devastating.  They're saying now at least seven people have died in Gustav since it hit the U.S. coast.  If the GOP had a crystal ball (which would be heathen anyway) they wouldn't have curtailed the convention.

I've watched just about all I can stomach tonight.  It's the same fascist themes out of Uncle Benito's handbook:

1. Government bad, corporations good.
2. Freedom of capital and freedom of humans are one in the same.
3. Worship the military.
4. The world is dangerous, you need big daddy to protect you.
5. Religious sanctimony.
6. Hate the liberals.
7. We are the real Americans.

Mike Huckabee just repeated the canard that Abraham Lincoln founded the Republican Party.  Disaffected Whigs founded it in 1854.  Lincoln was the first Republican president, but comparing the GOP of 1860 to the GOP of today is like comparing a Roman candle to a Roman Polanski.  They share a name in common, but thats about it!

Stop the world, I'm going to be sick!

Rotten Rudy got up there and made fun of  Barack Obama for being a "community organizer," and that houseful stormtroopers jeered right along with him.  Yeah, what an asshat that Obama is going into those impoverished Chicago neighborhoods and trying to make a difference.  What'sa matter? Don't they teach Ayn Rand at Harvard?  With his degree, Obama could be making a fortune helping corporations sue other corpations!  OK, OK, the GOP extolls the virtues of "volunteerism" as they cut funds for soup kitchens, but we liberal sissies don't get that "volunteerism" means coaching polo at the country club.  Altruism's for dopes!
