Democrats and Republicans Both Adept at Ignoring Facts, Study Finds

Democrats and Republicans alike are adept at making decisions without letting the facts get in the way, a new study shows.

And they get quite a rush from ignoring information that's contrary to their point of view.

Researchers asked staunch party members from both sides to evaluate information that threatened their preferred candidate prior to the 2004 Presidential election. The subjects' brains were monitored while they pondered.

The results were announced today.

"We did not see any increased activation of the parts of the brain normally engaged during reasoning," said Drew Westen, director of clinical psychology at Emory University. "What we saw instead was a network of emotion circuits lighting up, including circuits hypothesized to be involved in regulating emotion, and circuits known to be involved in resolving conflicts."

The "facts" Democrats ignore are far less dangerous today than the "facts" Republicans ignore, especially the truth about man-made global warming.

The worst "facts" the Dems are ignoring is that the '92 victory for Bill Clinton was an anomoly. The DLC Republicrat "triangulation" strategy will never again succeed.
Hillary Clinton will never be elected president.
Fear and supplication are an ineffective way of dealing with the enemy. When the fascists seized control of the GOP, they made the party not just political opposition, but a full-fledged enemy with absolutely no moral code.
No gentlemanly political opponent would do what Karl Rove and the boys did to John Kerry in the 2004 campaign. The Dems seem to think it is still the '70s and there can be such a thing as bipartisanship. How would you carry on "bipartisanship" with Hitler's Nazi Party?

I don't know about "ignoring facts," but the Republican party is collectively the best liar I have ever witnessed. Sociopaths are like that.
