Subject: Finally, Tom Delay Is Gone! All liberal Texan's should rejoice

Finally the monster otherwise known as Tom Delay is gone for GOOD. He won't be seeking re-election come this november. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am extremely happy!!! Please post your comments, thoughts and opinions!!

it's better news for the Republicans... they get to run a candidate without a huge amount of negative baggage.
It's a heavy Republican district, so this will now be a harder battle for the Dems. Now it'll be easier for the Republicans to cry and pretend he was wrongly accused since the trial won't be on the front page.

It's a heavy Republican district, so this will now be a harder battle for the Dems. Now it'll be easier for the Republicans to cry and pretend he was wrongly accused since the trial won't be on the front page.
Ding ding ding.
Tom DeLay resigns in June, switches his residency to his town house in Virginia and a special election is held with another republican candidate who will no-doubt win in that overwhelmingly conservative district.
This is Nick Lampson's (the democrat challenging DeLay) worst nightmare. He is done in that district.

DeLay says he's resigning to save the congressional seat for the Republicans, and that's not the only "seat" he's trying to save!

I love how the media's playing up this story like, "Atta boy, Tom, take one for the team!" And they keep repeating some line of BS Delay has about his concern for "foster children." He sounds like a beauty queen, next he's gonna say he wants to be a veterinarian because he loves kids! Orphans, sure Tom, most apropos, first thing I think of is Oliver Twist, 'coz DeLay is rather Dickensian character, isn't he?

They ought hold that dirty, crooked little greaseball in custody as a flight risk. I wouldn't trust "The Hammer" any farther than I could throw a grand piano!

I gotta say, I can't stand DeLay, mainly because he just play's the Jesus card whenever he can, great Tom, great.
That seat is now a sure fire Republican seat though :)

Dude, the Dems never had a chance here to begin with. The gerrymandering that went on in 2003 here in Texas has fixed the majority of districts in Texas for the Repugnicans for a long time to come.
