I have memories of my dad using Windows 98 in 2005 and 2006.
Was it common in 2006, or did most people use Windows XP?

I think my parents computer was still using it. I didn't even know that many people who were still using Windows 2000/NT by that time.

Some Retro gamers still use it today for big box PC games

I don't remember anyone still using it by then. Most PCs that I remember were using XP.

Me and my parents were! In 2007 we skipped XP and went straight to Vista.

I've just remembered that, as well as skipping XP, we skipped Windows 7 at home! We went from Vista to 8, and now we're on 10.

We bought our first "real" computer in 2001-XP. I had an old dinosaur word processor (still have actually but it finally died) and Carlos had a computer on permanent loan from the college he worked at (we still have that but it also died). Our XP was first time we were online-with dial-up. ::) We have upgraded a few times but Carlos still used the XP forever until it finally died-can't remember the year. We bought a Vista and hated it. That gave us problems since day one almost. Then Windows 7 and we pretty much stopped there. All our computers/laptops are Windows 7. Don't want anything else. If we HAVE to do away with Windows 7, I might think about getting a Mac.
