Subject: What Was The Last Mid 2000s Sounding Song?
Written By: Slim95 on 06/02/22 at 10:05 pm
If you had to pick a song, what do you think was the last mid 2000s sounding song or the finals song that was released with a mid 2000s vibe?

Technically people are still releasing music TODAY that sounds like it's from the 2000's. But I kno what you want, the last MAINSTREAM song that sounded mid-2000's. My answer is all the way in 2013 - Mirrors by Justin Timberlake. Timbaland's production barely changed over the years IMO, this song fits right in with JT's other stuff from his 2006/2007 era.

That's actually because right now is actually a return to the mid 2000's rather than a continuation of it.
It's hard to say because what do you consider the "Mid 2000's sound"? It's a mix of either emo, McBling rap or R&B, crunk, pop punk, or dance/electro pop.
During that particular era I'll say it's a 2009 song as by the summer/later half of the year that sound was completely phased out.

Could be any of these, from around 2008-2009:
Low by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain
Down by Jay Sean
Right Now (Na Na Na) by Akon

I don't like being nitpicky, but what? All 3 of these, especially Down, were AHEAD of their time. That and Low were both forces in moving music toward the electropop domination of the early 2010's

When it comes to the crunk and R&B that was popular in 2003-early 2005, I remember the last of those in 2006:
- "Do It to It" by Cherish (reminded me of "Oh" by Ciara w/Ludacris)
- "Pullin Me Back" by Chingy (reminded me of his other song "One Call Away" from late 2003/early 2004)
