Subject: Is the 2007-2008 school year part of the core 2000s?

Written By: mc98 on 05/01/20 at 8:07 pm

Remember, core =/= mid.

I have this question recently and do you think the 2007-08 period(August 2007 - May 2008), belongs to the cultural core 2000s? I would say it was part of the core 2000s because the emo scene was still relevant with acts like Paramore and All Time Low. MySpace was still more mainstream than Facebook. There were still crunk-inspired hits such as Cyclone, Kiss Kiss, Low, and I.N.D.E.P.E.N.D.E.N.T. Flip phones and slider phones were standard phones and having a smartphone was extremely rare.

I'm confused by the poll ???

2007-2008 is most definitely Late 2000s, arguably the epitome of 'Late 2000s', but it was also the tail end of the 'core 2000s' as well.

I am low-key starting to get nostalgic for that school year.

A year can be both "core 2000's" and "late 2000's".

To answer your question, September-October 2007 was like the last breath of the core 2000's. It was the quintessential late 2000's school year.

Start of late 2000’s ending of core 2000’s. It didn’t have that classic 2000’s vibe to it anymore. Pop culture began to kind of go downhill during this time imo.

I added a "both" option.

I would say it's late 2000s with a few core 2000s carryovers like electro-R&B, crunk, and alt-rock/emo. 2008 was the last time MySpace had massive dominance overall, and flip/slider phones were still being used.
