Subject: Which era does the 2003-2004 school year belong?

This period was sort of like a pre-emo time. MySpace wasn't popular yet. I would say it's transitional.

Yeah it was a pre Emo and pre iPod ( as a fad/necessity) period. Not all jeans were bleached or designer, pseudo shaggy hair wasn’t a trend yet.

It was the last gasp of the early 2000s. Most trends from 2001-mid 2003 still pretty popular and visible.

Also skateboarding, nu metal and pop punk were pretty big.

It was also a bit transitional especially March through June 04 but still an early 2000s period.

Mid 2000s didn't until June-September  2004 imo.

I'm not really answering the question exactly, but this topic made me think about how this is the school year I was in Kindergarten, and I clearly remember learning to write the date ending in /03.  ;D
It's hard to believe that was more than 16 years ago. It was a good year.

I refer to the 2001-2002, 2002-2003, and 2003-2004 school years as the "Mall Pop" Era, the term "mall pop" in reference to all the cookie cutter pop-rock  from the likes of artists such as Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Simple Plan, Fountains of Wayne, and Yellowcard, which all had a certain vibe that was somewhat poppy but also somewhat angsty. This truly felt like a transitional period between the Y2K Era and the Emo Era.

The summer of 2004 is when the Emo Era began, with Green Day's "American Idiot", Hawthorne Heights "The Silence in Black and White", and My Chemical Romance's "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge".

Yeah I agree. I don’t know why a lot of people think it was part of the late 2004-2007 period.

Early 2000s, but also the start of the Core 2000s

Definitely early 2000’s. The music, fashion, kid trends that were released were still extremely early 2000’s.

The same time, but it is broken into 3 four month semesters, as opposed to 2 five month semesters. Or at least that's how it is in Ontario (Canada).
