Subject: 2009 vs 2019 Challenge

Written By: Dundee on 01/17/19 at 11:10 am

A challenge that has been trending on social media lately, people post pictures of them 10 years ago compared to today. The results are pretty fun ;D Even celebs are doing it!

A lot of my friends are doing it on Instagram. Too bad I don't have many photos from 2009.

2009 is where it's at. The 2010s was a mistake, as always:
https://media.distractify.com/img/C79Ycg5-_/0x0/transformation-tweet-1-1547494848321.jpg

I was surprised to see Winx Club be in on this since they generally are out of the loop on most things:

Even without the new animation style, Winx Club has gone sub-par since 2013 because of how the show felt like a monster of the week affair.

You're apparently allowed to shift it a little with 2007/2008 photos ;D

This challenge is more noticeable for very young people(like teens and younger twenty somethings).

I look basically the same 2019 vs 2009, the only change is I have less facial hair because I shaved my mustache about 2 years ago.

It’s also noticeable for people who lost a lot of weight, or became muscular, or just had a drastic change in style as per the guy Riven posted.

Big difference for me.

In early 2009 I wore (relatively) baggy jeans and clothing and dressed more casually, had long hair, no facial hair (even though I could grow it), and was skinny. The exact picture I had in mind I was wearing a long-sleeve green polo shirt low-rise bootcut jeans and white running shoes. It was more of a stereotypical 2007/2008 look but this was in early 2009. Unfortunately my friend who took that picture deleted her Facebook account. :(

In 2019 I have the stereotypical undercut+beard look, skinny jeans/tight clothing and I'm somewhat muscular or muscular-slim (been weightlifting for 1.5 years now).

I'll have to ask my cousin for 2009 pics next time I see him :P

Big difference for me too! Since I’m 14 (Turning 15 soon), I was a little kid.

In 2009, I was that fat little kid who was a MAJOR spongebob fanboy, and wore lots of spongebob clothes and smiled in every picture with big cheeks  ;D I was also into electropop back then, with Lady Gaga and Kesha, I was just in Kindergarten though LOL

Now, I lost a lot of weight and I’m around 5”6 now, and I wear modern clothing (Hipster, white fashion, etc.) and I have an undercut at times, or my hair down, but of course, not like the 2009-2011 JB style. In terms of music, I listen to trap (Just not mumble rap), and New Jack Swing, as they’re my 2 favourite genres at the moment.

Born the same year Avril Lavigne released My Happy Ending and Sugar left YTV. Shook. :o

Just kidding. Always great to see another Canadian on the forum. Soon we'll take over and be focus the nostalgia for this forum on Avril Lavigne and Sum 41  8)

It is soooooooooooo weird to see that some ppl were little kids back then and now they are adults :o

Anyway, this was me in 2009, finally 10 years ago.

I've posted these before here somewhere.

Since I trust ya'll, I wouldn't normally. As for current, I am not really into taking photos of myself, I only like the old ones for nostalgia reasons.

I ain't posting any pics but as a teen in 2009 I did not follow the emo hair trends and all of that. I dressed pretty much the same way I do today.

Me too.  I guess I dress a bit more "hipsterish" now. I'm not sure how 32 yr olds are supposed to dress. All I know is not to dress like "stupid looking young people".  ;D

I get anything between 20 and 32.

I know right! That's the weirdest thing ever when I see someone who is 18/19. I swear late 20s/30s is a weird age. You are kinda neither young nor old.

Some people who are adults now were kids back when I was still an adult. Yet I still look basically the same as I did back then.

Re the shaggy hair, yeah, it was something that came as a result of not wanting to get my hair cut on a regular basis. Yet somehow also fitted into the fashion at the time. Not that I ever made much of an effort, as you can see, I'm just wearing jeans and a red top.

I really wish I wasn't shy back then. I never spoke to girls so my advice to you is to get used to letting you're feelings known with women. I always had the urge but could never express it. Now I just approach them on the street!

Really? I just moved a few of my pics there because of Photobucket stopping hot linking.

Do you know a website where I can archive pics and also hotlink them? I know Insta is the obvious option but that is more of a social network these days isn't it?

To me, this translates to "dress in a more gender conforming manner" for guys for this decade.

Seeing how some people in that age bracket act on the internet, I don't really have a problem with calling someone in their early 30s "young" tbh...

People in their 30s are almost always referred to as young.

As an example, regarding 33 year old Colin O’Brady who became the first person to cross Antarctica unattended:

It's an achievement the young American has been working toward for several years after turning to extreme sports to recover from a freak accident which left doctors wondering whether he would ever walk again.

One, Louis Rudd, is a middle-aged Englishman carrying on the grand tradition of this nation’s gentlemen explorers. The other, Colin O’Brady, is a young American with an inspiring story and a knack for self-promotion

Neither young or old would be middle age, which is definitely not late 20s or 30s.
