Subject: Most Dreamlike years of the 2000's
Written By: John Titor on 12/09/18 at 12:27 am
What years of the 2000's you consider to be so Fantasy it can't possibly be real.
These are years that mostly resemble those of a movie or dream.

None of them I would consider dream-like, but for movie-like I would say 2005, 2007 or 2009 because of the mix of tragedies and triumphs ;D

I'll give you mine, its pretty reflective of what @SpyroKev and @Zeldafan said
2005
Mostly because of that summer, I think this was one of those summers where everyone was outside doing something, it was like an adventure.
The music of the time seemed very dream movie like. Of course 2005 was like peak 2000's so it makes sense things feel movie like.
Pink was a huge color this year, I remember music videos having a dreamy Mariah Carey like glow to them (most r&b videos)
I remember an Apple store opened up near me, it was weird playing with OS X at the time. When I think of 2005 I think of the movie
KIDS, where people are walking around aimlessly getting into trouble.
2002
Mostly for the early 2002 part, you all know my reasons. I remember playing Sonic on a Gameboy, the feeling was unreal. The music was pretty crazy it was adult but also pop at the same time, The fashion of 2002 was pretty cool 2, Bandannas, Glitter shirts, heavy light blue eye shadow. The music of this year, Michele Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Shakira really painted the picture of what this year would be. That winter was unusually warm as well, I don't remember that much snow staying long on the east coast, I remember walking around in February without a coat. The junior high teachers I had that year were very memorable as well, I dare even say even more memorable than highschool.
I remember waking up an seeing this music video on MTV, I felt like music videos at this time were at an apex in terms of budget.
IlV7RhT6zHs
I remember this was apex of Eminem's career, you would see posters being sold in malls, kids in school bleaching their hair to look
like him. 2002 is without a doubt the apex of Eminem's popularity.
Honorable mentions that didn't make the cut
2006, 2006 lives in the shadow of 2005, sure 2006 was great but it was not iconic enough to beat 2005 out. The ambience
that 2006 had is diluted a bit by the last half.

2008 the finale of the 2000s was memorable, but dreamy ? ehhhhh maybe small aspects
I flip and flop with 2008 all the time, things about it seem classic 2000s and then other stuff seems too new.
Was such a hybrid year.

Guurrl, 2008 had that Sci-Fi vibe going on. Everyone was obsessed with the magic of technology, from flat-screen tvs to 3d cinemas. Even one of the biggest movies was WALL-E lol

Yeah but it still had classic elements.
Things about 2008 that were classic 2000s
People dressed like the 2000s (Juicy Couture, Oc inspired beach looks, XXL tees)
MTV TRL
Myspace (yes Myspace was still popular in 2008)
Majority of Logos were still in their classic forms
R&B still big
EMO meshed with scene so you had a hybrid of that culture
Bush
Britney Spears comeback
Flip Phones
Things about 2008 that were NEW SCHOOL at the time
Facebook (despite mass influx of sign ups in 2007)
Electro Pop
Gaga
American Apparel
Obama
The Avant garde look you described
Katy Perry
Android Smart Phones
Recession
Hipster aesthetic

its because everything 2000s related pretty much got wiped out by the time 2009 came

2000. Maybe because I was only 5 years old, things felt dreamy that year. 2005 is a good year to pick too. That's the year I moved cities so it was a big change and it was a change pop culture wise too in a way. But all the years from 2005 and before felt dreamy to me. 2006 and onwards felt more real and closer to the present-time, again probably because I moved cities then, along with the changes in general.

Not much pop culture wise changed in 05 other than 360
Emo was still emo, Myspace was king, 50 cent was 50 cent.
