Subject: Were people in The 2000's obsessed with blonde girls?

I noticed that many movies in the 00's had Barbie-esque protagonists, including celebrities like Paris Hilton, Hilary Duff, the Olsen sisters, Britney Spears or the Girls of the Playboy Mansion were huge in popularity back then. It seems the beauty standard changed drastically around the last decade. What do you think about this trend

I think they found at that time that blonde girls were sexy and a bit dumb.

I feel like the "2000s" obsession started in the late '90s with Britney Spears. But of course, blonde obsession predates the 2000s by a long shot. I can think of the "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" musical that Marilyn Monroe starred in in the early 1950s :P

I feel like the "2000s" obsession started in the late '90s with Britney Spears. But of course, blonde obsession predates the 2000s by a long shot. I can think of the "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" musical that Marilyn Monroe starred in in the early 1950s :P

I think the same, the 20th was the century of the blonde obsession and the 2000’s was its peak

I think the fact that pop culture is more minority(?)-oriented now plays a big role in why blonde hair isn't as popular as it was in the 2000s. Blonde hair is also now more associated with Trump supporters and conservatism.

You have a point, but I think this guy focused on the 2000s cos that's the era he grew up in, and that's what we all grew up with.
