Subject: Early-Mid 2000’s Websites you used to visit
Written By: duenas8 on 07/26/18 at 8:32 pm
After to find my old account on IMDB, I started to remember which websites I used to visit back then. One of those were impawards.com (a movie poster collection), mortal-kombat.org, and some classics such as miniclip.com, Neopet, even cartoonnetwork.com.

Which one did you visit, before the social media boom

I didn't start really using the internet in the 2000s until the mid 2000s. Cartoon Network is definitely one of them. I used to watch my brother play Teen Titans, Megas XLR, Courage and The Billy and Mandy games.

Ah, I remember when the IMDB homepage used to look like that!
I first stumbled across it in 2000, and have gone back to it semi-regularly ever since.

Anyway, here are a few that I remember visiting back then:
MSN.com, particularly the games section. There were specific games I would often play in my free time.
MediaDomain.
Yahoo.

Let me make this post very crystal clear. I'm not just going to list the early-mid 2000's websites I used to visit. I'm going to list the websites that I visited between 2002 and 2004. The Web 1.0 and early 2.0 era. Why? Because this was the time before MySpace and early YouTube took over the early social media era and changed everything. It was a completely different time with a totally different vibe using the internet. You had to watch TV and read magazines to copy off the URL code and put it in the address and enjoy time on your favorite website. People still had dial up for most of this era but was just transitioning into broadbands around this time (although fortunately my family got broadband right before 2002). Today we just Google search or rely on our big 5 social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube) to get to most of our websites now. Although times change and we always adapt to them. These are the following early to mid 2000's websites I visited regularly throughout this time period #presocialmedia #classicweb #NoMySpace #NoYouTube #slowinternet

The Hot Wheels website, Yaholigans, Cartoon Network and Speed Channel are the most fascinating. I first went to Nick.com by 06 or 07 I recall. Also I should note I found Esnips useful in exactly 07.

I didn't start using IMDB until I started watching the show "Mad Men" and every single week I was on the message board there discussing the show. (and worshipping Christina Hendricks, wishing I could be her) ;D

Yahoo (not just to check email, also to play games and watch music videos)
That one site you can send e-greetings from
Ajc.com (to check the news in Atlanta)
Uniontrib.com (to check the news in San Diego)
Bestplaces.net (city comparison data)
Match and Emode (online dating)
Ebaumsworld (before Youtube, that site had the original viral videos like the Star Wars Kid, "Nooma-Nooma", and the Burger King Christmas Carol)
The-numbers.com (movie data site)
Imdb (especially in 2005, watching all the movie trailers)
MySpace
