Flavors of Youth is the next movie from the creator of Your Name (2016), this film will show three different stories and at least one of them will be based in the year 2000, as you can see clearly in the trailer, specifically in 00:49.
This movie will be released on August 4th on Netflix. Honestly I’m excited for that.

I'm kind of not ready for 2000 to be nostalgic, in the sense that people will turn it into something it's not e.g. "back when everything was perfect and ooo look at how retro this is". :-\\

I think theres a difference between being nostalgic of something and relating to that nostalgia as something 'retro'. Personally, I'm ok with being nostalgic of 2000, because I was a young child back then. However, I get where you're coming from, the weird passage of time has been starting to get to me as well lately. Like the mere fact that we are closer in time to the year 2030 than to 2000 itself is pretty creepy. Especially since 2000 was seen as the year of the future for such a long time, and even in most of our lives most people refused calling 2000 retro (or at the very least dated) because of the year's futuristic connotation.

Lately I've started to feel that we are becoming less and less connected to the year 2000. This newscast below really captures how long ago it was.

Give it a couple years, and we'll be closer to 2040 than 2000 :o
We're also already closer to 2030 than 2005.

And I hate it.

Kind of "weird" to see nostalgia in a medium like anime. I might check it out :P

Same actually. It makes me very nervous, just a sign I'm getting old. Whenever a year I remember gets like that it makes me feel uneasy. I feel like "aren't we supposed to think that way about the 1980s still"?
