My mother was 22 and my older brother was 3 in 2000, we have photos from 2002 and 2003. These look ancient.

I felt that way as well.

I don't think early '10s technology is really that dated.  We mostly used the same devices we do now, just more primitive versions of them.  It isn't like the early 2000s when everyone was still using desktop PCs with big CRT monitors, SD TVs, CD players, dial-up was still the norm, and phones were so primitive that you thought being able to play "snake" was futuristic.

That month was very memorable for me.  I was 15 and I had a huge crush on a guy (but I didn't realize it was a crush and I had not yet admitted to myself that I might be gay at that point).  I just became very clingy and possessive over this friend I had.  Ultimately that pushed him away and he stopped being friends with me because of it.

The fashion of the average person wasn't that different in 2000 from the mid '90s.

It was primarily celebrities who dressed all glossy and shiny.

It wasn't until 2002/2003 that the '90s fashion mostly died out.

All of them are older adults in that pic so they don't really count. Older people typically start to wear those types of distinctive clothes the older they get.

That’s what I miss from the Y2K era, I’ve grown up in a generation who loves vintage clothes, music, stuff etc. At least we see signs of new trends coming

Tbh that's not how I remember 2000. The image quality is really bad. I notice this in my own photos too: my skin is deathly pale in almost all of them. The whites in this pic weren't as white as they were in real life. Some cameras over-expose way too much.

Also that bat is terrifying.

What's funny is that as 2000 and 2001 were going on we used to believe that quality was really good and crisp clear as that time period was going on, and even when it came to new episodes of your favorite shows on TV throughout 2000 and 2001 or the home video recordings you did with your family,  those looked crystal clear to us at the time because it was the norm, but now since we are so used to high definition television and high definition photos you look back to the old photos and it looks terribly dated now.
